Spring has arrived on the calendar.

I've almost completed artificial pond to patch the volcano wall. It was hard - i had to design several pond zones above each other, because single pond evaporated too fast. Once the door will be linked to lever, we'll pour it out.

Cave fungus is quite nutritional. Yak bull completely ate grass from surface pasture, and began to starve. I moved him to cavern pasture and now he's just hungry a bit.
Also there grazes the hippo. If we have cave crocodiles, why not cave hippos?

Mistem Okollokum, Stomeworker, secretly claimed craftshop. I wander what will he make...

I was working on capturing device at caverns. I still want to capture giant cave spider and use it's webs. So, it's just a narrow passage filled with cage traps, that passage can be blocked with bridge. I think we also should set spike traps there in case of ancient beast arrival...

We moved smelters and forges underground, as the magma level got down and isn't enough to power it. Also it raises the efficiency - stockpiles can be placed near forges leaving pasture space intact.

Mayor still needs some pieces of furniture - like cabinet, chests and so on. I ordered to make 30 silver toys, I hope there will be toy hammers among them and his mandate will be done.

As for our new baron, Shade, first he was quire useful. He was brewing drinks and was brave enough to dig a tunnel near adamantine vein - at least where we think it can be. We gave him all rooms and furniture he needed, though not of superior quality... and now he wants us to make aluminum items. Fuck off, we never had any aluminum here. If we ocassionally find some ore, we could make it... or if next caravan brings us some of it. Till then - fuck off!

So, that what happened this winter. I think I should pass my rulership to someone other.

Pics and save will be soon.

Pic section:

This is our cave deers and sheeps pasture. And capture device - almost finished. Dig that wall when bridge is linked to lever at control room.

Cave hippo and cave yak. Eating moss. And a bunch of cavies doing the same. We're in danger of Cavyplosion!

Entrance to cavern. Protected by plate+hatch combo from that wandering gorlak and in case of disaster that bridge is raised

Here you see the greatest disappointment of Shade. He was digging the tunnel where the adamantine vein was heard from cave-in echo. And instead of shining blue stone he got dull micocline.

The main quarters. The control room, baron's quarters (with a short way to his tomb, in case of... well.. sudden heart attack or something), and my own office.
Also the designation of quarters expansion.

Pond ready to patch that hole in the volcano. Pull that lever.

New metal works. Below is magma tank, above it metal stockpile.
Also the halls for a temple, or arena or something. We need to have some entertainment.

Save is here: http://dffd.wimbli.com/file.php?id=4381

So you still have summer to go technically.

uh.
ok, I'll pull that wagon for some more.

EDIT: On second thought... I'd better pass the rulershit, cause I'm quite bored with all that pasture stuff. I think I'm done with that.

EDIT2: rulerSHIT. Nice typo! :D

Alrighty, I'll get started probably on monday. I know it's a bit of a wait, but I don't know if I'll be around much tonight or tomorrow.

go easy, and don't worry since the fps are probably "descending" i'll play it in the weekend if it's my turn (during the week i'm with an eee pc, and i suppose it will be nearly impossible)

Ok, looks like I'm not really ready to run my turn this week. So I think we should probably pass it on to the next person. Jake is still in exams, so I'm thinking it's Shade again, if you want it.

After that I can try it again, and then maybe Jake, if Garret doesn't mind waiting for that new schedule. (assuming he wants to remain in the rotation)

So, to recap, proposed schedule:
-Shade #2(now, picking up after garret's save)
-Haika #2
-Jake #2
-Garret #2
-Shade #3
.. etc.

And I suggest whoever does get it this turn, start by slaughtering a ton of extra animals, we only need one male and one female of each species. We can't really afford to feed more adult grazers. Keeping them until they mature is fine, but after that we should slaughter, and work the bones, skin, meat, etc. We may love our animals, but if we let them all keep breeding and living, they will all starve to death.

*Journal Entry 41*

I nearly lost my hand when Paragarret snatched the barrel away from me today.  Apparently, it contains a bunch of bee brains.  I was convinced it was some weird joke, but he wandered off with it mumbling about finally being able to get into their heads.  Either way, he's doing a pretty good job as leader.  He's got an obsidian caster set up over the leak in the moat, almost ready to patch the hole.  Oh, and the Barron was named: Shade!  He started his "reign" by mandating aluminum somethings be made.  I didn't catch what he wanted because I was laughing too hard.  He knows damn well we don't have any aluminum around here!  I think he just ordered it to make Paragarret squirm, and whoever takes over as leader.

Which reminds me, why isn't the leader the Barron?  I never understood the intricacies of politics.  As far as I can remember, Barrons just sit around all day and be useless noble.  At least Shade still comes to mine and hang out.  Speaking of which, I need to get back to it.  Those mine shafts don't dig themselves.

i can take the turn, but you'll have to wait for the weekend (an eeepc+tons of dwarfs+tons of animals, fps or not, it's death)

Butcher some dwarfs too!
Also, apply magma on your eeepc - for overclocking purpose.

Really wish I could get it together and take my turn now, but I think it's best if I wait a bit longer still. Patience is a virtue and all that, as long as we don't let the story die, we should be able to wait on things.

i have the lingering feeling that, once i get back home to my pc, and start it, i'll be sieged by a fb+goblin+troll+elven siege of doom...
just a feeling.

If they can't fly, you're quite well protected by moat, walls and bridges.
In any case, apply magma!
