Sadly the electricity wont let me, thankfully I saved right before it happened... I will have to carry on later on though, so spring will come slowly!

Here we go!

With the begin of my reign, I started by taking a short look around at what had been done. I also noticed my fancy title and laughed, then had a closer look.

...What?

Well, I'm sure it's nothing. I'll just get started and...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Balls, it's the thirds of Granite and ALREADY I have a fey mood? He grabbed the magma forge and got to work. Eventually we got a lead trumpet and, well, thats it. It some some stone on it and that was it. Aparantly it was an artifact. Yeah right!

Well, I started working on mining out hematite, since we needed some armour, I took most people off of mining since what we needed was efficiency and not speed! With so many dabbling miners we got no ore at all!

I also set up a jewellers and a farmers work shop, to start cutting the jems and to shear/milk animals. we have them, might as well make the most of them!

Around the 10th of slate, We got some lion cubs, interestingly enough this happened RIGHT after the mother was turned into a war lion... it creeps me out to think I witnessed that. The bears are next!

14th, and a mother load of migrants arive, 22 in all with plenty of animasl. I mixture of poults, chicks, calves and the likes. With a llama thrown in too!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With this brand new horde, the wall is well underway and giving us some good protection now. No more scary goats for us!

5th of Felsite, and a "pleasant" surprise is in store...
Spoiler (click to show/hide)
No shit, three of them. I sent the male away to be butchered since we don't really need him, but the two girls are staying in the pen, I will see if there is enough for them to eat...

The elves arived and we rebuilt the ramp to let them in, we then comenced trading and I bought all of their logs, and their booze, cages, and best of all... a hippo! Not sure if THEY can feed themselves either but we will find out!

To top it all off, my hunter who I forgot to tell to stop hunting decided to wander off, he took down a goat and just as he was about to get inside he was interupted by.. three rhinos. I facepalmed then checked his quiver... 21 steel bolts. Ohhh, this should be interesting. The first rhino charged and was promptly shot in the gut. All three ran away, one into the cage traps, and the other two into the moat... once my dwarf was safe inside they then decided to climb out of the moat... into the other cage traps. Rhino steak anyone?

This, is the wall, pretty much finished on the most important side, mass labour rocks!
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

So all in all, a nice spring time, with trade, migrants, and food! And lots of babies too!

*Journal Entry 21*

Apparently Zulban was inspired by Jake's leadership style, he grabbed some lead and a few stones and holed up in one of the forges.  Maniacal laughter and the sounds of furious forgework ring out from the caldera of the volcano.  In other news, journal, I am pretty much alone in mining right now.  Jake wants hematite, and she knows I'm the most likely to keep the ore usable.  Still, it's slow going.  And lonely.

*Journal Entry 22*

Zulban finished making the best trumpet that nobody will ever play.  Lead, seriously?  It's a damn nice instrument, but nobody here knows how to play.  I also doubt that anyone who does know how would want to wrap their lips around lead.  Jake has most of the old miners working on making a wall to compliment the ditch.  If I don't watch myself, they'll want to call themselves stonedwarves, too.  Oh, the agricultural workshops are ramping up as well.  No surprise that Jake knows what to do with animals.

*Journal Entry 23*

Migrants!  Wow, a whole fort full of them.  The interesting ones include: a brewer who was reasigned jobs before Shade could hear, a dwarf who claimed dying as a career but knew a lot about several others as well, and a real miner!  He's good, you can see it in how he holds himself and his pick.  He's joined me on the hematite veins and is giving me some good pointers.

*Journal Entry 24*

I can't believe she's actually BREEDING them!  Those damn giraffes!  I don't trust them an inch, they are too tall to be trusted...

*Journal Entry 25*

Elves, woo.  At least they have some worthwhile things like wood and booze.  Oh, and a hippo.  Jake was acting like it was her birthday.

Don't trust those giraffes, they're worse than elephants! :P

Well, Shade you're next in the rotation. It's up to you how you want to play it.

Can't say I'm not disappointed in you though Jake. Exams shouldn't have 'sprung up suddenly'. You should have known they were comming. I'm not going to fault you for wanting to study more than play a game, but you could have said something beforehand.

Sounds fine to me, if no one else objects.

And if you don't like military, I suggest getting rid of that ramp if Jake didn't already, and filling the entrance by the drawbridge with cage traps.

the save i got began in summer.
so it's summer-winter-spring, and then again till next spring, right?
oh god.
i think i'll finish updateing in the weekend. (you know eee-pc's right? i'm playing on one of them XD)
luckily keeping things in ascii code helps, but i turn on the tileset to let people see the screenshots. right now i'm in summer still, began in the 28 of felsite, now on the 12 of malachite...
and...peregarret, you're one lucky hell of a ... on the other hand...Khelan, it's seems were fated to be together. were lovers. XD
i'm quite changeing the entire layout of the fortress. more "dwarfly" less problems. furthermore, rooms and beds for everyoneee. but wait and see...what madness lurked in df...tomorrow definetely updateing summer time.

hrm, I'm not sure I like the change the whole fortress idea. XD Just as long as the animals are taken care of. Looking forward to see what you do!

Since you got it in summer, the thought was you play until summer of next year, then hand it off again.

Also, Jake do you want to be added to the end of the list again? Come back in and try and redeem yourself later?
