or just 3 or more guys doing it I broke a CEO like that once only used props once to get him to see the liberal way Oh and none of them had any Psy too.
If you're persistent and careful you can break anyone without any Psychology or props, but I mean breaking them fast enough that their disappearance isn't reported. While it should of course be possible, it shouldn't be so incredibly easy.

Hello!

I have an idea on how pacifists could remove the CCS from acting: by letting sleeper CCS vigilantes do some Direct Action in order to ruin their safehouses and cut them from their support.

I suppose we all agree the CCS is corporate funded, right? If enough CCS sleepers would pool their weight together to destroy equipement, the CCS would have to ask for more to their corporate superiors. They would then have to get lots of guns and illegal equipement (army or heavy body armor is common at the CCS and cannot be bought from legal ways, and guns once gun control laws get Liberal enough). It is not easy to do, and would put a hole in corporate funding (bribes, thieves...). With their equipements reduced, the CCS would then have reduced effectiveness. Seeing as the CCS costs more and more money for less and less results, the initiative would be denied more funding. The CCS bosses would be forced into hiding since they know too much about their corporate bosses, and without leadership the CCS would then disband.

It could even be possible for active LCS members having learnt the location of the CCS safehouses to do the sabotage themselves. It would require lots of planning (i.e. high disguise/stealth and driving), and the CCS could use several special tiles for the armory, the vehicle, and such. After the first tile is hit, there would be a site alarm. It would require several raids performed on all safehouses in a short amount of time.

Of course, there would also be the easy way of going there and killing 25 of them.

What do you think about that?

Stopping by to report that in the most recent version it seems rather easy to break the CCS's back.  Six random individuals with only minimal gun skill, pistols, and basic armor were enough to smash each site as soon as I found their location.  It seems like they only had to kill 10 or so hostiles once they got there, and many of the CCS members walked around singly or in groups of only 2-3, making them easy pickings.  I would consider upping the average group size in CCS safe houses and the number you have to kill to break them, especially at the final location.

Thanks for maintaining this game, by the way.  It was rewarding to finally beat the latest version.

Agreed; it was quite easy.

Oh, and there's a bug in the "Teach Other Liberals" code. Pressing 2 will bring up the options for 3, and vice versa. Minor bug, but there ya go.

I've been looking through the code. It's pretty interesting. I've taken a class in C++ programming and I actually understood it, yay! :) Never worked on anything this big, though. I've been poking around and I think I found the issue--

Here, in the activate.cpp file:

            case '1':cr->activity.type=ACTIVITY_TEACH_POLITICS;break;
            case '2':cr->activity.type=ACTIVITY_TEACH_FIGHTING;break;
            case '3':cr->activity.type=ACTIVITY_TEACH_COVERT;break;

You can see that the two activities for the keypresses 2 and 3 are switched. It should be a very easy fix--just switch ACTIVITY_TEACH_FIGHTING and ACTIVITY_TEACH_COVERT; unfortunately I don't know how to fix it for myself, so somebody with the actual ability is going to have to do that.

I think the 2/3 thing is fixed on the SVN codebase, so next release should have that fix in place already. You're right about what the problem is, I just remember editing that very code to swap it around.

It's not just the most recent version.  The CCS has always been rather easy to destroy, provided you can find their hideouts.

Eh, it's not like the whole squad has to survive or anything.  Just cause enough trouble to scare the CCS away.  In some versions, I recall capturing CCS hideouts, even when nobody in the squad survived.

The relative ease of destroying the CCS has been the main reason I've previously suggested the CCS be able to resurrect if their "source" hasn't been destroyed, some extra step beyond safehouse raids.

I would still love to see a "death list" that shows all of the liberals that have died and how they met their end in a future version of the game.  Is that a possibilty?  If theres even a slight chance it will be added, that's better than no chance at all.  :)

I like that idea.  It fits in with the general Roguelike feel of the game, even though the exact game that LCS is based upon did not have a death list.

Hello!

I'm using ubuntu, I managed to build the sources, and used dos2unix on sitemaps.txt, yet LCS failed to load that file. What should I do? Thanks!

If it has a linux release, it's fairly easy to port it to mac. So easy that any mac owner with even a basic knowledge of typing can do it.

I agree with Urist. Steampunk is like Darth Vader winning Holland's Next Top Model. It would be awesome but not something I'd like in this game.
Unfortunately dying involves the amputation of the entire body from the dwarf.

It's probably in the wrong directory, is my theory. I'm not sure how to help beyond that; I'm hampered in my knowledge of how to fix the Linux install process by the fact that I don't use Linux myself.

If it has a linux release, it's fairly easy to port it to mac. So easy that any mac owner with even a basic knowledge of typing can do it.

"Easy" if you count compiling from the console as easy. So really it's more like any Mac owner with knowledge of typing, and who is comfortable using the console, and who knows how to compile from source like they're a Linux geek.

But yes, the game does work on a Mac if you download the source code and perform the obscure sorcerous incantations necessary to turn the source code into a working game. The Linux readme should provide at least partial detailed instructions that will help.
