Checked the source, it's 100 juice. Should be more, seeing that it's nearly impossible if the map is even remotely difficult. Compare to nuclear plant terrorism, which gives equal juice, but is much easier in all respects (easier monsters, less likely to get spotted, can still pull it off after alarm) and, arguably, is more effective for the Liberal cause (immense, immediate boost to public opinion without long-term side effects like CIA raids).
Yeah, the only real problem with Nuke is you need a damn scientist to actually push the button, which is a more difficult skill to acquire than hacking, which is more useful.

You need a damn scientist... all it takes is some University education, or then just take that Eminent Scientist you failed to convert before the kidnap was noticed. The skill needed has been raised a bit though, but I think you sometimes succeed with as low as 5 science, 7-8, I think, already works more often than not. Hacking is not that easy to train, as the only action that trains the skill without racking up heat is checking polls. And you need more computers skill to hack the CIA computer than you need science to push the button.

In any case, the supercomputer reward should be boosted. It's way too easy to get the files (which, I believe, are functionally identical to data disc) from a sleeper and the juice from a single prison visit.

EDIT: By the way, today is the 57th anniversary of Alan Turing's death after being persecuted and having his work ignored because of his homosexuality. Three cheers for Liberal gay rights and Epic Computer Science!

After the barrage of scandals Wikileaks played a role in, including and especially the massive diplomatic releases, I think the data disc should be buffed. Maybe you can only do it once, but the fallout is tremendous. Some ideas (not all mutually compatible):

- The data disc comes pre-loaded with thousands and thousands of documents, covering many wide-ranging scandals. You get six or seven separate entries on the special edition screen. The data disc is only used up when it's completely out of scandals.
- Running the data disc in a special edition actually runs special editions day after day on different issues for an entire week.
- If the CCS is active, you get the locations of all three CCS safehouses immediately upon hacking the supercomputer, and the data disc reveals that they're being financed by the CIA. It affects all issues simultaneously.
- The data disc has a scandal so grave that it affects multiple issues and triggers the impeachment of any non-L+ President. The VP who steps up immediately waffles, and permanently becomes one level more Liberal.
- Everyone in the entire LCS gets 200 juice.
- Liberals doing innocuous things have a small chance of being ambushed by multiple Agents at random times for the next month or two.
- Your founder is almost guaranteed to be attacked by agents, one time only. If she is in a squad that leaves the base, her squad is attacked by multiple cars of agents with automatic weapons, or a full complement of agents on foot. If she's doing solo actions, she gets ambushed by a squad of agents. If she stays home, the CIA sieges her safehouse. (Note that when combined with +200 juice for everyone, this shouldn't ever destroy the LCS unless you're doing a solo run. In that case, better hope your super stealth hacker founder has combat or escape abilities to match.)

Sounds rather... EPIC. However, about the CCS safehouses, can the game handle revealing the safehouses in non-standard order? Also, if I've understood correctly the safehouses are active only one at the time. Maybe it should be either that

a) All the safehouses become visible immediately after becoming active: "Using the location entries on the Data Disc, your Liberals have confirmed that the CCS is hiding at <location here>"

or

b) CCS just gets destroyed: "The Data Disc reveals that several high-ranking Government officials, military officers and politicians have ties to the CCS terrorists. After several forced resignations, online petitions for open Government and the biggest corruption scandal in the US history, the CCS is strapped of their ties, funding, and leaders. Having lost all their power, the remaining terrorists hopelessly scatter into hiding. The CCS is no more."

The safehouses are revealed one by one, but they all exist from the beginning of the game, they're just flagged as hidden. I think the way it's coded, the CCS can be defeated even if you attack them in a non-standard order, but there might be a problem with any new sleepers you acquire. Destroying the second safehouse first, for example, could result in CCS sleepers working at your own safehouse. This would have to be fixed.

I like the idea of the scandal destroying the CCS non-violently. Perhaps hacking the computer immediately gives you their safehouses, and publishing the data disc destroys the CCS. You can still destroy the CCS yourself after hacking the computer, but it's easier to just instakill them with a super duper special edition. It would also give pacifists a way to handle the CCS.

Indeed, it would be nice for non-violent squads to be able to wipe out the CCS. Chop off the head and the body withers away.

"The squad searches the coordinates found on the Disc and locates <num. of unlocated CCS safehouses> covert safehouses formerly used by the Conservative Crime Squad. These safehouses are now empty and waiting to be put to good use by the Liberal Crime Squad!"

Is it even true that the CCS can't be defeated in a pacifist run? If one have enough sleepers to overcome any CCS political activism, then I'd think that you can still have a L+ world without removing the CCS, and if all the laws/politicians/Supreme Court are L+, you win the game, even if the CCS still exist. (No I haven't tested this out...and I don't have plans on doing so.)

While it may be possible to win without confronting the CCS, they will make your life more difficult because your inaction won't stop them from confronting you on a regular basis. The expectation is that this town ain't big enough for the both of you, and one will have to fall for the other to succeed.

I absolutely your ideas on the Data Disc. If you can add that to the next update, I shall be very =D.

As for what it does to the CCS, I suggest that it has a chance of destroying them, but will weaken them signifigantly if it does not. Here's my take on it. I warn you, this is pretty megaeventish, but my mind ran wild.

The Conservagate Scandal

Preamble: The LCS steals the Data Disc from the CIA Supercomputer. The CIA freaks the fuck out. (Effect: The CIA is searching for LCS members in utter desperation. They will go to any length to get that disc back.)

Week 1: The Data Disc is published by the LCS.

Week 2: Horrible scandles rock the federal governent. Up to half of the non Elite Liberals in the Senate, House, and Supreme Court resign in shame and fear.

Week 3: The country is on the verge of social collapse, hundreds of millions of people rioting in the streets. The Liberal Masses have been roused to violence. (Effect: Public opinion becomes extremely Elite Liberal on all issues. For the remainder of The Scandal, public areas will spawn Liberal Rioters and Riot Police(L-C)/Supression Squads(C+). The rioters fight the police and conservative spawns, while the police will attack the LCS from their arrival on the site. No moderates are spawned, as everyone has either taken a side or is hiding.  If Police Regulation is at Elite Liberal, the Police Negotiators run for the hills and no one responds to the rioters.)

Week 4: The Attorney General is killed in the streets by enraged citizens. (Effect: Attorney General is dead and removed from the executive tab. He is not replaced for the remainder of the presidential term. A Elite Liberal Attorney General is respected enough by the public to avoid this fate, and nothing happens week four.)

Week 5: The President is impeached by the tattered remains of Congress and is replaced by the Vice President. The Secretary of State becomes the Vice President. The President is charged with High Treason because of what is on the disc.  (Effect: President gone, Vice replaces, SoS replaces Vice. Does not happen to an Elite Liberal President, who's reputation is not tainted by the contents of The Disc.)

Week 6: The new President is vilified and humiliated on international television by his own staff. He breaks down in tears in front of the camera. (Effect: The new President becomes one level more liberal, unless he is Elite Liberal, in which case this stage does not happen.)

Week 7: The CIA's connection to the CCS is uncovered, and the CIA immediately cuts all ties with them and assassinates high-ranking CCS members who know too much to save their own skin. (Effect: CCS Bosses no longer spawn, Hardened Mercenaries spawn recuced 50%.)

Week 8: The rioters assault all remaining CCS safehouses and anihliate the CCS. (Effect: CCS destroyed.)

Week 9: The CIA is attacked by rioters and destroyed. Congress disavows the organization and their activites with new privacy laws in an attempt to save themselves. (Effect: The Intelligence HQ/Ministry of Love is destroyed and replaced with the Abandoned Intelligence HQ. Privacy Law immediately becomes Elite Liberal if it is not.)

Week 9: The riots die down, and the country normalizes. (Effect: Rioters and Riot Police despawn.)

Aftermath: The remnants of the CIA vow revenge on the LCS. Rogue Agents inhabit the Abandoned Intelligence HQ and are hostile to the LCS.

Either it always destroys the CCS or it never does. If the player has a once-in-a-lifetime (well, once-in-a-gameplay) opportunity to do something great, it shouldn't have too much random in it. I'd prefer destruction, though, because CCS isn't hard to destroy anyway, and the data disc, as it currently stands, is extremely difficult to get, making the destruction of CCS a fair prize. Also, as Jon said, it would finally provide an alternative way to get rid of the CCS.

Apart from that, the suggestion you provided seems fun. I'm sure I would enjoy starting an occasional civil war, and it would provide some variation, but I'll leave it up to Jon to decide what cool new stuff will happen.

You could make it possible to do more than once per game. Publishing the Data Disc would weaken the CCS, destroying them if they're already weak. There's a bunch of different power levels they have, right? Affecting things like the quality of their mooks. And every time you cause a new Conservagate Scandal, the CIA would lash out against you. I think the juice gain could be something like 100 for the squad for hacking the supercomputer, and another 100 for everyone in the LCS when the data is published.

Might be better to tie an occasional civil war to a different mechanic outside of the CCS, and put that aside while we try to balance the LCS. For now, the LCS game gets easier as you are winning, which is rather poor game design and should be fixed at a priority.
