Alright, I've fixed pretty much everything but am still missing the sitemaps.txt... I've basically tried every combination of directories, set the source to seek the full path instead of simple filename (I've no idea if it should work) but no luck... basically rather weird. Sitemaps is the only file (AFAIK) that uses readConfigFile, maybe the answer lies there.

Maybe. I also tried an instruction in one of the readme-files that instructed the use of a local variable, but I couldn't get it to work.

Once I get home I'll try the copying trick.

Holy Trinity Batman! It actually worked! Sadly, this means I shouldn't have wasted that half-pint of virgin ram blood (actually ~4 pints because I accidentally didn't dilute the concentrate).

No, they have been found after I copied them to <path with crimesquad-executable>/art. I did not make install, so the path to sitemaps.txt must have been set by some evil sorcerer, maybe even a conservative one.

I'm not having any problems with the files. Are you running crimesquad from the trunk directory, ie the directory containing the art directory?

Yes, that's why every file except sitemaps loads properly. And as has been noted here, the problem is fixed when sitemaps.txt is moved to /usr/local/share/lcs/art/sitemaps.txt, because that seems to be where the game's looking for it.

The game seems to be crashing everytime I try and equip guys, not sure what's up, but it's driving me bonkers.

It works for me without moving sitemaps.txt. I don't even have a /usr/local/share/lcs/ directory.

After looking around a bit I wonder, have you been trying to install lcs? sitemaps.txt and the xml files aren't in what I think is the list of files that are installed. Also, the code for opening the xml files would have to be changed to take install paths into consideration.

I've installed it normally - bootstrap, config, make.

Since it does create a usr/... (and I think it's even mentioned in LINUX_README) and other people had the same error as well, I think you've done something "wrong", but in a way that appears to work.

Wow, having fun in LCS at the moment!
Sadly, I had to ditch my last game, as it was fatally bugged. Oh well, onto a new one...
And this is definitely my best game yet! I have a new semi-indestructible leader, surrounded by a core squad of high-agility, drug-selling gunmen. The other member of the squad is an ace writer, with about 18 writing skill.

So, I've managed to fend off ten-plus army sieges, attacking two of my strongholds! I never knew how useful the booby traps were, last time I tried them I didn't notice them doing anything, but they really make it almost TOO easy, especially for my main squad who can wipe out squads of soldiers even before the traps soften 'em up.

My current plan is to sell all the excess weapons and ammo I've pried from the cold, dead hands of the attackers, (about 100 or more assault rifles, and countless magazines) use the money to setup a couple more hideouts, and RECRUIT, RECRUIT, RECRUIT some cannon fodder squads.

In my opinion booby traps are no longer overpowered. Not because their damage was weakened, but because you have to wait for the cops to come. This may mean instakills from jet bombers and army engineers removing tank traps (which is also rather deadly).

Also, I'm half-sad and half-glad to find out that even top-notch liberals are very much killable now...
