I don't know. That's why I said I couldn't help beyond the advice that it's probably in the wrong directory. Perhaps someone else can help though.

Elodie, was your procedure for getting, compiling and running the game any different from mine?:

# Checkout from svn.
svn co https://lcsgame.svn.sourceforge.net/svnroot/lcsgame/trunk lcsgame
# Enter directory.
cd lcsgame
# Some configuration.
./bootstrap
# More configuration. Install whatever it says you're missing.
./configure
# Compile.
make
# Run game. The binary is in the src directory.
src/crimequad

It must be run from either src or its parent directory (as above), unless you install the game (sudo make install). dos2unix is not necessary anymore but it shouldn't break anything either.

Just a problem I'm having, I can't leave the 'What is your name to the people' screen. I tried pressing enter with and without a name and nothing happens. I tried downloading several times and ran it from several locations, but still got nothing.

Any way to get around this?

Bizarre. I've never heard of this. I'd like to help but I have no idea why it would break there or how to deal with it.

Got that problem while running it with Wine cause my cursor was out of the window. Try pressing enter with your mouse cursor unside the LCS window.

Ah, I've been getting back into LCS lately... For ages I was getting kinda bored of the game, since I had a whole band of nigh-indestructible badasses who could just chew through squads of soldiers like hot knives through butter, and I was just sitting there, slaughtering anyone who attacked my safehouses, selling their weapons and ammo and generally making tonnes of money for the Liberal cause, but with nothing much happening.

Just recently I've started playing again, and after my founder died from a bug with escaping sieges I've been taking a lot more chances and really trying to 'win' at last... Before I'd been kindof waiting for my squad to get wiped out so I could start a new game and play it differently, but now I'm doing plenty of experimenting in my current game. :)
Oh, and I have a martial artist in my squad with a cap of 19 for just about every main skill. :o

Cursor location isn't the problem. I'm not too fussed though because it works perfectly on my pc, just my laptop that has this fault. It's a damn fun and addicting game though.

Trying to compile it, I get a noob error: it cannot include <externs.h> although the file is RIGHT THERE. I am using codeblocks. What could cause it? :)

Right now I just check general code and see what can I do. Also I plan to make it a bit more futuristic and change dogs to K-9 (intelligent dog-like cyborgs like in Starship Troopers), it would make sense then that they are able to do most things humans may do with L+ animal rights.

And I've figured out how to compile it.

Doesn't it mean that guards get MP5 if gun laws are archconservative OR they get .38 revolver if they are NOT archconservative? And the nighstick check is entirely skipped?

I plan to change small things like that, MetalSlimeHunt, with some learning.

Changing it to "else if(law[LAW_GUNCONTROL]<2)" should make them to have nightsticks if it's L+ gun situation, right?

P.S. I also plan to expand stuff like news and information you recieve from newspaper. I feel like it really adds to the atmosphere :).

The code "else if(law[LAW_GUNCONTROL]!=2)" will trigger if the law is anything but Elite Liberal (internally represented as positive 2). So nightsticks are triggered when the law is L+, and SMGs are triggered when the law is C+.

I have a question to ask, Jonathan!

Right now the car chase shooting only affects leg wounds.

If I get it right, I should read it like "in case it's a game mode "car chase" then leg wounds do not count".

What I want to do is to add a new integer parameter to cars called "protection" and roll a skill check for the shooter to hit a person inside a car (I want to add various armored vehicle types). The problem is, I don't know how to get from "w" (which is a victim here) the "vehicle" value... How should I check the vehicle type and if it's possible the vehicle's variable called "protection"?

To clarify it, I want to see w->vehicle->protection integer value.

P.S. Also it looks like the "if it's a car chase" is all over the fight.cpp, so I will have to change a lot of things for that to work... For example, I see at least two places where it checks if it hits a car of a person: in one place, it reduces damage to 0 if it hits the legs in a car chase mode... In another place it renames the attack to "hits the car" when it hits legs, so these are two separate actions (the attack description and the damage reduction) which is a bit weird and I can't wrap my head around it how to translate it in a better "car protection" mechanic.
