Creating a completly handmade world?
« on: April 26, 2011, 11:50:03 am »

Hi! Does anybody know how to make small(i mean really small) worlds
which are entirely or most of them made by hand?

"PerfectWorldDF" isn't quite what i'm looking for.

I am looking for an utility that can make me such small worlds like the object testing arena.

What are those?! Not apostrophes, for sure.

You can customize the object testing arena, you know. In the data folder.

Or maybe there's a god who's just completely insane and sends you to Detroit, Michigan in a new body if you ever utter the name "Pat Sajak".

They`re these thingies, up in the corner. You know, the key you can make ~ squigglies with. ````
Anyway, I don't think it's possible to make a world as small as the arena, not even with utilities. Sorry!

Smaller than pocket worlds, i don't think that is doable. Testing arena is really small, that wouldn't even be a whole 16x16 embark tile. Smaller than a single city in the game, so you wouldn't even have room to embark or have civs probably.

Why not just shape a single map as your world? "Tweak" gives you Tile Edit

You can embark on a 1x1 fortress with Nano-Fortress. it's a small (<400K) download, If this is about data size.

Try editing the standard worldgen.txt file to see if you can force it to create a 1x1 world.

That would be 16x16 embark tiles, and wouldn't allow for ANY civs... but it might be possible.  That's absolutely the smallest possible world one could gen tho.

I like fortresses because they are still underground.

I don't think you can drop that.

A size if 9x9 might be workable, you need a power of 2 plus the extra "1" because of the grid points / mesh system that Toady is using. The map sizes will always be (2^x)+1
