You know, I wanted to say "F*** IT, WE'LL DO IT LIVE!", but I'm so eager that I'm doing a practice run with everything except the new mod.  Actually, I won't use the character names.  Maybe it'll be the precursor to Dawnboat.  Humm...  Yes, an evil idea is forming...

Edit: Well THAT'S interesting.  Upon embarking and throwing half an hour away on this fort, I do a quick DFReveal and find that...  Well, stuff's REALLY messed up.  Guess I better turn that first layer of caverns back on!

Yeah, all caverns+magma and HFS off = 1 underground z-level.

All right, here's my idea for a custom world-gen.

  • I like to gen 257x257 worlds for more choice
  • One layer of cavern
  • Standard 2500 for mineral scarcity
  • 30 Z-levels above ground level
  • End at, say, 150 years

Note to self, pick a site with shallow metal.

Also, the site I pick will most likely be forest-ocean, untamed wilds if it can be helped.

If you can grab a cave also. its a less-ish hassle to reach ore with one, granted there is the possibility of disgruntled locals so its a good idea to spend one of your first actions plugging it up since there is at least one beasty down there that you don't want to deal with till you are fully prepared.

There's the Behemoth Bat and another one which makes webs.

Hmm...  A cave next to the ocean?  Could be interesting, but no promises...

It's pretty easy to reach the caverns without a cave. All you have to do is use ore veins as stairwells. Or use replaceable potash makers.

Put me on the list, I'll play a year. I'll also apologize in advance for completely screwing over the Fortress ... Cause I know it'll happen.

Barring any of those, just put me as whatever. :P
