A concept I realy like in sci-fiction is boarding parties trying to take control or dismantle an opposing forces ship.
Is such a feature a possibility in your game?

Yes, this is an essential part of the plan for Blockade Runner.

Well at this point you are making the game I always wanted to, godspeed.

Great Q&A. I was pleased with every reply. If anything the vision these guys have for the game is more ambitious than I anticipated.

The thruster system is indeed cool, but is it just me or is it reaaallly hard to make a ship with properly "calibrated" thrust? Anything I make either spins ever so slightly when I move forward, and/or does not rotate in the correct direction when I try to change roll/pitch/yaw. I know it should be possible to fix these issues by placing thrusters extremely meticulously, but that's a bit of a pain, especially once we'd have extremely huge ships that obviously can't be 100% symmetrical. Heck, if I place, say, a crew bunk on one side of such a ship, I'd have to put a crew bunk in the exact same symmetrical location on the other side, or have the whole ship move strangely.

I hope there will be some kind of thrust-compensation/tweaking for thrusters to negate such problems. Maybe have a computer that does that, so that big ships would need such a computer practically all the time, while very small ships that can easily be made symmetrical (say, fighters) can save space by not including it. Also, taking out this computer on a large ship (with electronic warfare/physical sabotaging) would make driving the ship very hard.

Thruster controls are *really* touchy at the moment because every thruster is firing at 100%.  This will be cleaned up with a much smoother control system soon.  We wanted to get the UI system upgraded first, as the old UI system took way too much development time for us to work with.
Wait, you can control thrusters? How? Cause it isn't in the README.

You sure can't blame them for lack of vision! It's grand, possibly the grandest I've ever read! Let's hope they can implement them and this will be a dream game for many of us I think!

They have also started plans for pre-orders, as soon as next week. R1W9 is coming tommorow (Saturday).

Looks like the next release was delayed another day. In any case it's mostly a back-end code update. The good thing is that means future development will go faster.

As mentioned above they have also rolled out pre-order payment. I'm buying me a copy as soon as they fix it so people with non-US post codes can actually order.

It's heartening to know that they are giving plenty of attention to both the long and short term. We get an actual playable game in the short term that helps bring in revenue, and secure the lengthier development of something really cool. A good model.

My ten dollars are already in, and I'm glad to say that I don't think they'll fail in their grand vision.  Not only that, they keep an awesome response to their rapidly forming community, as well, so issues and questions are rapidly being taken care of.  8)

I was gonna look at their site but it seems to hit a compiler error?

Indeed, been that way for a couple hours. I hope they've noticed. *WAVES TO ATTRACT ATTENTION*

It keeps coming up with the error and then a few minutes later its back again.  Maybe a server error, or they'll finally getting out to updating the website, sense they just started their purchasing system.  May be a last-minute error when trying to upload the new game version, as well. I don't know.  I haven't seen anything in the forum about it, yet.

They have fixed the website error.

R1W9 has been released. No gameplay additions because of the UI overhaul.

Changes:
* UI backend, will help the devs save a lot of time in the future
* widescreen resolution
* Your vision now has visor effect (as if looking through a spacesuit helmet)

Also I thought I should mention there are tiered rewards for being among the first purchasers of R1 (each release is a year). The first 25 get to name something in-game, the first 100 get R2 for free, and the first 1000 get their name in the credits. As of this post, there have been about 15 purchases.

I think most of the community (and the purchasers) come from this thread actually  :P (I have a different username). I expect that will change when they make an indiedb page, but perhaps they are waiting until they have more stuff to show off.
