Post-Mortem Tomb Designation
« on: April 25, 2011, 01:31:49 am »

I'd like to be able to properly entomb someone after they're dead, not just shove them in a casket in a really nice room. At the moment, it's purely ascetic thing for me, but if, in future, visiting the tombs of dead heros give your dwarves a boost, giving a tomb to someone who died heroically before you thought she needed a really impressive death chamber would be gratifying.

Nice one, not sure when I'll be feeling like killing a baby but these things are good to know.
This is why we can't have nice things... someone will just wind up filling it with corpses.
Arrakis teaches the attitude of the knife — chopping off what's incomplete and saying: "Now it's complete because it's ended here."

Search feature, bud. It really helps us keep ideas in single threads.

In fact, here's a thread with the EXACT same thread name as yours.

...Dude that thread is three years old.  Bump that and you'd accuse him of necroing..

You're right. They would, so starting a new thread for this is justified.

I'd like to point out however, that accusing somebody of necroing a thread is incorrect under the rules of this forum. I quote directly from the suggestion forum's heading:

Why would he bump it? There was already discussion on the issue. Unless he had something new to contribute, it would be a necro.

There are already discussions in this forum about necroing dead threads and searching for existing threads on a given topic. If you'd like to accuse someone of necroing a thread or not searching for existing threads, please use one of the existing threads instead of muddying up this one with duplicate topics / replies.

Thanks.

There are already numerous backseat moderators on these forums (myself included and including this post). If you'd like to accuse someone of accusing someone else of necroing a thread, use Private Messages rather than muddying up this topic.

Thanks. :)

Thread necroing, when you have something to add, is encouraged in the Suggestions Forum, since it helps keep old ideas discussed, old arguments are less thoroughly rehashed, and helps organize them for Toady.

I can assure you that anyone who declares necroing is not allowed on this forum will be corrected by me, if not by others, as I have just done.

wtf, someone just necro'd the 3 year old thread today, for real. i came in here wondering why two active threads had the same name. Coincidence or Kogut being a smart-arse?

Actually, maybe he had both open and got confused which was which. Or perhaps because the old thread actually contains a discussion of the topic :)

It IS rediculous that this has turned from a suggestion, to a discussion on thread necromancy, to a discussion about the discussion, to...

This forum in insane. But not more so than everyone else on Earth.

I came over here because it's more peaceful than the animesuki forums I use to frequent. Still is.

And I was at the anime forum because that was more peaceful than Yahoo Answers Politics (aka Crazy Troll Central)

So, agreed

BTW Cespinarve, could you rename this thread "Post Mortem Thread Discussion : )", so as not to confuse with the other thread.
