here's the report fot the Year 10.
Granite:
We are short on wood again, and again i have to send our woodcutters into the caverns.
This time we have two axedwarves with them though. Let's pray to armok all will be well.
Our masons start working on the archery range above the narrow path into the fortress to shoot at advancing enamies from it.
We had a meeting yesterday to decide how it should be named, and we agreed that the best name would gbe simply "highway".
Yes, Highway. With a capital letter it is even better.
"Ye know, Urist, we have a Highway leading to our town"
"Wut say u, Urist, and what is particularly high about it?"
"Hehe, Urist, high enough for your limbs to fly half the way back up if you fall"
Splendid!
Slate:
Twenty more migrants have arrives with lots of livestock, among them two hunters of high skill and expertise.
Ineth Domothrigad, one of them, was unluckily injured in a cave-in, looks like we should elect a diagnostician and establish a basic hospital.
Tekkud, our militia commander retired from his military duty to heal the wounded.
Felsite:
On the first of felsite one of our newcomers became fey. He is a bone carver and right now he is working on Draltha bone something awesome.
Grave news i have, too.
A troll has somehow made his way to our halls, I guess it's because someone forgot to close the cave drawbridge.
That costs us life of Oddom Eshtanalis the farmer - the beast killed him before the soldiers came to the rescue.
Спи спокойно, дорогой товарищ.
Elves have arrived with loads of wood and tamed giant tiger and giant leopard.
We were able to buy everything we needed - wood, fruit, booze and the aforementioned beasts, for just two totems.
The Highway and archery range are now finished, and i ordered to pasture a puppy on the Highway to let our marksdwarves know about any invaders. The wide gate is now closed and everyone is forced to take the narrow and dangerous path.
Another troll attacked us, but this time we were more lucky and careful and dispatched it easily
We now our famous for our Legendary Bone Carver Kol Abanedos and his artifact Nunur Rash the Crevices of Death, a draltha bone crown. It is adorned with hanging rings of draltha bone and menaces with spikes of draltha bone and tethrahedrite. It also has an image of feather trees in two-humped camel bone because most of the draltha bones were wasted. However, one should be very vigilant to notice the difference, so we can pretend they are in draltha bone two, just that draltha was a bit young.
Hematite:
I ordered the elven wood to be made into beds for newcomers and charcoal for metal industry.
Wounded hunter has been saved, his life is once more out of danger. However, he has some very bad "Overly Pink Frakcha", as Tekkud says. It will take much time before he can shoot again.
Malachite:
Yesterday night someone has brough a note book to my room. I was surprised to see that it is a thorough historical and scientific work dedicated to the military application of miner's pick. I should discuss it with my military advisors.
Tales spreading of the riches of our fort continue attracting migrants to us. We are now forty nine.
I have also approved the orders to forge full metal, albeit copper, armour for a standard infantry squad of ten dwarvers.
Galena:
The forgotten beast Anan has come. A gigantic antelope with lidless eyes. It has huge mandibles and somehow the very moment of its arrival I was aware of its noxious secretions. Our brave soldiers attacked it and beat it down with no death casualties. Olin Asenilik the Axedwarf has been injured in battle and Tekkud says he has "Overly Pink Frakcha" too. He is alive however and while doctors do not allow him to drink booze, he congratulated the hero Led Rakustradol, who landed the fatal blow and beheaded the beast.
Human caravan arrived bringing us lots of timber in exchange for some totems. We continue forging armor and harvesting wood in the caverns.
Limestone:
Minkot Stukonoltar the farmer has been peculiarly secretive lately and has now presented us Sidkisat Fullut Riril "Charemptied the Rabble of Fellowships" the horse leather trousers, decorated with horse bone and horse leather and menacing with spikes of horse bone and brown zircon. She says he was inspired by Nothissut Shakethtilesh the camel leather flute to make her pants and she looks at our bookkeeper in a very strange manner when she says so.
Sandstone:
We continue forging armor and harvesting wood in the caverns.
Timber:
Id Dodokber the woodcrafter has made an artifact fungiwood ring after having been working for a couple of weeks. A nice thing, with images of mountains and dwarves travelling and labouring, but noone agrees to wear it. Me neither.
We have also a big shipment of ores and metals from Mountainhome. Imported steel, bronzes and raw materials will allow us to arm and armour our soldiers properly.
I approved the smelting project which will yield us 14 bars of steel, 40 bars of bismuth bronze as well as 8 bars of ordinary bronze and 2 excess bars of iron.
Moonstone and Opal:
These months brought us much death and suffering. Wild beast from the caves attacked our dwarves. Datan Rithsoder, Geshud Zonnum and the baby Egem Shegetmafol were killed in rampage of giant toad, giant cave spider and cave crocodile. Спите спокойно, дорогие товарищи.
After the murderous beasts were dispatched, even greater danger arose. Raca Afiene the forgotten beast has come to bring death to our lands. It's a gigantic mud blob exhaling poison. I decided to raise the drawbridge despite my dwarves contemplating about their beloved socks and thongs lying there in cave.
We mourn, but we should live on. There would be no use for the dead if the entire fort went emo and died. We must remember our dead, but never forget we are still alive.
A goblin babysnatcher tried to sneak into our town, but he could not hide from our vigilant guard puppy and was promply shot and killed.
The Highway in now guarded with two cage traps in addition to puppy and marksdwarves.
Obsidian:
Our farmers have established a poultry yard with 10 or 12 guineafowl hens in it.
Armor sets for our soldiers are ready. Each one has a set of copper armour, bismuth bronze high boots and a steel pick.
We have also got another artifact leather flute. Zon TobulKadol the Axedwarf has made Nilunaran "WearSculpture", a water buffalo leather flute. It is decorated with bismuth bronze, forgotten beast bones, leather and gems. On the top of it it has an image of Sidkisat Fullut Riril "Charemptied the Rabble of Fellowships" the horse leather trousers on it. They definitely are obsessed with leather flutes and trousers.
It would be difficult for me to post screenshots because the fort spreads numerous z-levels up the spike, but i'll pick some and edit the post once i get familiar with the post image feature.
