Glad Påsk, people!

I wonder, though, is Easter just one day for you? I have always used it for the whole group of days, like Påsk is used in Swedish, but maybe that's wrong?

It's all about the after Easter sales, man.
Peeps, all of them, half the price.
Ohyes.

In English, there's a whole slew of terms for each day (Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Sunday, Easter Monday). Though AFAIK there's no term for Saturday. When I was younger, I once suggested "Still Dead Saturday".

Yet one more reason I left the Church.   :-\

Yes, we have those to (Palm Sunday, Wooden Stick Wednesday, Pink Thursday, Long Friday and the finally Påsk-Eve, Påsk-Day and Secondday/Afterday-Påsk. Påsk is derived from "pesach", iirc), but we still use "Påsk" to refer to all of those as a group. I've been using just Easter the same way, and what I was wondering was if that was a wrong way to use it?

Heh, it's not as interesting as it sounds, unfortunately. Simply comes from the tradition of changing the clapper (I think it's called?) to wooden stick to soften the sounds for the coming week.

Also, I it came to my mind that it's probably supposed to be Pure (or something like that) Thursday, not pink. It's the same word. It's also the word for "cutting" and small islands. ;)

I take it that "Still Dead Saturday" didn't go over very well, then?

Lutherans are not known for their senses of humor. I got a similar reaction when I mentioned in Sunday School that fighting and feasting in Valhalla sounded a hell of a lot better than a floating city made out of gold and gemstones where everybody sings all day. I think it was a foregone conclusion that I was going to wind up a heathen.
