The least effective goblin seige
« on: October 31, 2007, 02:49:00 pm »

So, I got to my first seige, and here is what happened:

The goblins gradually trickled in in the northeast corner of the map.

The goblins milled about.

The goblins milled about.

And never actually approached.

I sent out a dwarf to try and attract their attention, and get them moving towards the entrance. They came out of the corner to shoot him, and then went right back to it. They never attacked.

I've been having an Iron Man charge up to the front of my fort, and then slink off before actually comitting himself to battle.   It's annoying.   Either kill us all or go away.

I've had similar behavior with immigrants.  They arrive in ones and twos and it takes a whole season before all of them enter my fort.

I've had a similar problem with migrants.. they arrive, mill about for a while, go into the fort... go back to where they arrived and mill about

Eventually it sorts out and they become like 'normal' dwarves, but it's annoying.

I have had imigrants gather at the edge of th map as well, and some of my regular dwarves without job hav been known to walk there and hang around.

Did you have a designated "meeting area" zone? I know that the migrants at least will head for that location to integrate (like they did at the front door in the last version). Pretty bad if the sieges are dependent on that too though.
