I just made a map of the U.K. I'm from the US so I'm not as precise as a Brit but I think it is decent. Most of Scotland is uncolonizable but the areas that are inhabited in reality (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Inverness) are very available.

So, you either cut Ireland out of Britain or made it totally uncolonisable.

The aspect ratio of DF maps has to fit a certain ratio. I could not find a ratio that would let me keep most of Ireland in the map. I tried to fit a good amount of Northern Ireland in though (You can colonize Belfast).

It probably would have been smarter to make the map a little bigger to fit Orkney and Belfast in, but I'm not making another map of UK. I might make an Ireland map later.

A bit too much volcanoes in the Alps, I am afraid. But nice.

And I don't live in an evil glacier, thank you.

Read the rest of the thread. All DF maps have glaciers. You can't remove them.

Don't you, though?

I have a lot of interesting information. I found a way to make my height maps about 10 times more detailed (which doesn't really appear too much in the finished product but makes maps way either for me.) Unfortunately, I can't find any height maps of Scandinavia that aren't terribly distorted from being in the Arctic Circle.

I have learned from a lot of my mistakes. I have learned to make a lot of room on the North and South of the maps so the glaciers don't overlap with the area I am trying to represent. I also pretty much understand all of PerfectWorldDF now (I just toyed with the settings for the first two maps.) So This will probably be my most professional map. It is Ireland!

Let me remind the readers that the glaciers, volcanoes, rivers, and good/evil areas are placed randomly, and will change each time you load the script in your own game.

No it isn't. Look for the light blue water (Lakes are light-blue unlike oceans.)

It is an adjustable value with PerfectWorldDF.
