My name is too prestigious to be below your posts.  Make it above your posts and we might be able to negotiate.

Discussing it in hushed tones is looked down upon, but tolerated. Asking after such contraband is beyond forbidden- silence yourself before you lose a hand, fool!

If you want shady unauthorized copies of unreleased games, find them yourself.

Btw, returning to the "linear progression" question from earlier - I smashed my first shadow orb without dynamite or purification powder (got a musket). The darn thing was all but sitting openly in a cavern which the corrupted chasm was only partially merged into. To compensate, the first meteorite landed into the ocean behind the entrance to the Dungeon. Gotterdammerung!

Also, how do you attract the demolitions guy into the town?

From what I've read on the forums you need to use a few different types of explosives. I'm not sure what that entails though, I couldn't find the specific number. I don't even know how many are in the game.

How do you attract anyone to town? I have two or three eligible rooms, but the only ones who stalk the halls are the guide and me. I have more than enough money for the merchant.

Also, yeah, I picked up a Cloud in a Bottle before I could even forge a hammer (tripped over corruption and fell into a chasm). Progression isn't particularly linear.

The Merchant needs a second-floor room, it seems. Build a room on top of an existing one (make sure to make it otherwise eligible, i.e. it must have a door and outside access), and he should move in.

Btw, I love it when the NPCs do what you expect them to:

Progression isn't particularly linear.
It really can't be when procedural generation is used. They can have a general framework and path set for you, but people will skip steps occasionally when they discover five full gold deposits before getting an anvil.

There ain't much they can really DO with five deposits of gold until they get an anvil though, at least that part is annoyingly linear. Well, it is technically possible to raise the 50 silver needed for a merchant, and build him a room before getting enough iron for an anvil, in which case you can buy an anvil from him. So it's linear as far as item acquisition goes, but the method isn't completely linear.

How can I figure out how to do stuff in this game? Without any sort of information, its pretty much all guessing. Or is that what I am expected to do? XD
