Actually, I have a sneaking suspicion I know the answer to both "how the game handles large-scale construction" and "the reason for goblin invasion". I mean, the game is probably partially inspired by Dwarf Fortress as well...

Specifically Terraria, though they are skirting around this fact, is rather cherry picked in that they take things from any game they think is a good idea.

Which is fine but to me it is starting to make the game look mish mashy and the way they often outright deny it often comes off as dishonest.

Id do a suggestion dump on the Terraria official unofficial website

But I've mostly felt scorned by the Terraria development team and fanbase as a whole. So I see little point in it anymore... Which takes out 50% of the appeal of Terraria.

Ohh nothing, it is just ordinary stuff.

Probably my fault somehow.

...You watched 16 episodes for Pbat in one sitting? I'm so, so sorry. I gave up on him after the third LP. I couldn't take it. I'm not even sure what it was, but he's just not my style of LP.

Then again, I legitimately enjoy Yogcast's Terraria LPs, so there's a lot of people who'd say I have other issues...

Is it that he goes no where, constantly contradicts the goals of his LPs, overexagerates every single little thing until it seems unexciting, has poor perception, doesn't plan properly, misses the obvious, and makes obnoxious comments?

Actually, yes. That sounds exactly right.

And what exactly did they do to scorn you?

Ohh nothing, it is just ordinary stuff.

Probably my fault somehow.

...Not to be mean, but yeah, probably. Honestly, the development team's been fairly cooperative. They didn't expect the game to gain as much attention as it did, as quickly as it did, when they first released the trailer, and when they realized everyone wanted more they found a few LPers they trusted to show it off. Yeah, PBat kinda sucks, but that's not the developers' problem. Beyond that, they seem to have sped up actually selling it after everyone wanted to buy it, as well. They've been more cooperative than you can reasonably expect.

No, I just don't get responded to at all.

Though I am never on when Blue does his apperant "Answer everyone's questions". So I am always catching them when they are essentially just glancing.

But I have too shaken a psyche right now to take that rationally (no not from that... Other things have fractured my psyche)

How sad, to not have a dev team answer your questions. I mean taking into account the number of views on the trailer, it isn't likely a number of people are watching this, so nobody else would be sending in questions, and they must have plenty of time to answer them all.

Yeah, at least target the serious issues like the fact you're not allowed to critique PBat's videos at all or you get permanently banned from the forums and IRC.

Really? Oh wow, that is a little off. I mean Toady is willing to let people criticise he's work on he's own forum, as long as they are not being destructive jerks. Censoring anybody that doesn't like something isn't healthy.

The problem is Frumple is that I seen the pattern the game does things in and so far the game is rather formulaic and anything that approaches strong gameplay elements requires you not to jump through hoops but to crawl through mud. So new content would revolve around this slog and for the most part they fully support this judging by the FAQ.
I can kinda see where you are coming from, but a lot of words you are using seem to revolve more around taste than legitimate gameplay problems. Every game is formulaic. Take the basic gameplay elements you use throughout the game and its genre and everything revolves around that formula. Strong gameplay elements are what make the game formula fun. In this case going through caves and mining resources you can use to descend deeper into the caves as you gain new abilities, which sounds pretty goddam fun.

I really just want to call you out on basically not liking this genre of games. I understand and don't mind this, as we all have genres we can't stand. But don't make these huge criticisms without adequately explaining your terms and try to make the game into something it's not.

Probably, because I wasn't refering to a gameplay problem rather then the shaking feeling that I already "seen" the game.

Dang it Pbat!

New interview with Redigit, including release date stuff. I can't view the original, because of a webfilter, but [url=http://terrariaonline.com/threads/interview-with-andrew-spinks-designer-behind-terraria-release-date-talk.1641/]the topic in the unofficial forums says

Quote
Not much to note from accept one big one and I would say that is the release date. "Currently we are aiming for a release sometime between May and July of this year."

Those playing at home may note that it is currently May (and July comes afterwards).

You may begin rejoicing/preemptively cursing overly optimistic release dates.
