At this point, I'm really hoping voice chat is enabled ingame.

Maybe if we make a Bay12 server glorious enough we can have one of the devs visit us and our dwarf filled land of plenty.
Surface must be flooded by magma and the slimes must be modified into elephants.
And mushroom beer.

I think a sustainable fortress in the underworld would be enough to do it.

With a massive underground fortress/network made of stone, extending up out of the magma into a tower made of the rarest material in the game.

It must be done.

By no means directly related, but certainly in the same spirit: does anyone else remember that flash version of Portal? Metroidvania, while mining, while thinking with portals. Those who rely on them for shortcuts are wimps! True miners drop magma from impossible angles!

(There is no way to balance that, except to divide the portals between two barely cooperating PvPers.)

This really needs a portal gun, you could have fluids go through them, enemies as well, and it would be really neat to see worms go through them.

That's what the modding community is for.

They are not allowing the code out for modding. Its better to make it a suggestion, there would be a 40-60% chance of them adding it...

Spawn point a straight drop into a chasm, walled with obsidian and a lava layer kept in by hellstone, and a water layer on the outside.  Various pools and access paths thru areas lit with lava, with npcs living in various places on the way down, various platforms to get around. Final destination is the underworld, where a giant castle resides with living quarters right above a lava pool.  And a swimming pool out front, with flowers around it.  Several mushroom forests surround the castle, and many straight access tunnels are used for passage around the area.

Mere blocks reside between all this and certain death fun.

And NONE of it has torches. ;D

Torches are for cowards! Mining helmets are the way to go.

Pfft, mining helmets. Real men dwarves light up the darkness with flaming arrows and explosivies. None of this "mining helmet" or "torches" crap. If there's a flamethrower or fireball of some sort in the game, that will also suffice.

Does remind me I'm curious if bombs explode in mid air, or after they hit ground/stop moving/hit something, though. I could totally see taking one of those horseshoes and "digging" to the underworld from on one of the floating islands, heh. Just go up there with two-three max stacks of bombs and the rest of the inventory full of dynamite :P

Then you jump. Someone has to check and see if there's a limit to its mitigation.

A tower stretching from top to bottom is definitely on my to-do list. I can't help but wonder if there's a limit to fall damage, or if we can get some integer overflow up in here. *hits ground, takes -1,264,etc,etc damage, becomes invincible*

Bombs seem to explode a certain amount of time after being thrown, regardless of if they're in contact with something.

Blarg. Apparently I caught up on LPs from all three still-updating sources this weekend. I thought I was over the game a bit, but a couple days later I want more.

I read somewhere that if a cat falls more than 11 stories, it instinctively flares its legs out to increase air resistance. This slows it down enough to stick the landing with relatively minor injuries. In Dwarf Fortress, apparently, cats don't do that.

I think it's on everyone's. This is Bay 12 after all.

Haha I'd gladly help with populating various floors along the way with interesting things -- making sure we have trees, vines (not really useful, but that's gonna be a huge tower, gotta have some variety), mushrooms (both normal and blue), ponds (water and lava, of course, with corresponding falls), possibly a few mini dungeons, some corruption, this list goes on... I have to say, I like how you can transport or recreate a large number of the world features.
