no it literally means the blocks that compose the dungeon, they tend to be a particular colour: blue or purple for example.

Dungeon walls, maybe dungeon bricks too. Basically, if you tear down a dungeon and rebuild it somewhere else, it will still be a dungeon.

Has anyone actually seen critters spawn in a dirt walled house? Because I kind of like the look of Pbat's original hobbit hole and was looking forward to making one of my own some day. Sure I could just knock out the back walls, but that sounds like a lot of extra work. :)

It'll be easy to tell once the game's released - just go away and come back and see if there's anything trying to get out of your house.

Not really. You have to be in the area for monsters to spawn at all. If you're not watching it, you won't see it.

But conversely, they don't spawn on the screen. So as long as you don't stand around for a while just outside of your house you'll be fine? That's amusing.

Spawning seems to be based on background (i think BLUE mentioned it somewhere), so what your walls are made of won't make a difference. However you still need to make wooden or better  background walls to stop spawning and can't make them from dirt.

Hmmm, nah. Only the title could be changed.

Can we get the title changed now? "Metroid" is okay as this is a platformer and there some distinct block shapes in the terrain, but "Minecraft" does not fit at all.

Mm... vaguely rough numbers of memory imprint of Terraria, based on what Blue mentioned in P's LP... 4 bytes a block, counting a screen showed ~60x60 blocks (maybe a bit less, but ballpark numbers here.), 164x82 (probably misremembered, but whatever) screen large world, clocks in at somewhere around 200 megs, or at least ~200 million bytes. Maybe throw on another 50-100 million for the not-world info stuff. That's not bad at all.

Only needs at best directx 9c, so CPU drain probably isn't terrible... this bodes well for my aging computer :D

It allows for the widest base possible and most users, up to and including stuff down to older netbooks.

To slightly digress to the subject of, well, the subject:

How about instead of "Minecraft + Metroid?" we just say 'Terraria... Looks like Happy!"

That seems to be the most appropriate thread title, considering that virtually everyone here wants to play this very very badly.
