Welcome to the next Minecraft I guess.  It's like Zelda in sidescroller form, plus Cortex Command and MC, with a dash of other games.  That comment about being able to attract merchants by building a shop and having silver made my mouth slowly hang open.  An action RPG where you can build a little town, and the game actually populates it with useful people.  Hot damn.

I can't really see them sensibly charging much more than Minecraft (especially since they're clearly inspired by it). I would be more than willing to pay the price of Minecraft for this project.

Seems much more action oriented than MC, and i really like it, since there is only so much you can do with MC before you start giving yourself random challenges, this actually seems to give you a constant challenge just to survive and gather the basic stuff.

Its pretty impressive that they call this an alpha, it looks pretty darn solid to me. Whatever they add up is just icing on the cake.

Well, it's only been in development since January, and they've not even finalized adding features, so 'alpha' isn't really a shock to me.

I'm excited because it really seems like they're incorporating stuff to make for both a fun world and a fun character.

I mean, moon phases, events, what looks like different spawned sites in each world...spell books, magic weapons and of course, the merchant thing.....

Most people just stop at a functioning bullet hell game with interesting graphics and decent physics. These guys are adding another layer of RPG and meta-game you typically don't see.

And then there's PvP. Normally these games are good for like, 4 hours for me, but this seems like it could last days.

I'm curious on the price though. It looks good enough I'm half awaiting some totally overshot price point, because people are already screaming to play.

Considering Minecraft is just building/crafting/exploring/fighting dudes, it really doesn't seem that far off at all. Its definitely not unlike Minecraft.
Workbenches, items of better quality when made of better materials, interesting enemies, whatever makes Minecraft, well, Minecraft is in here, I don't exactly know since I don't like Minecraft. Not a clone or a copy, nor even close, but I can see how someone would think its inspired by it, not to mention I agree with them, if that wasn't clear by now.

Hey, not saying it's a negative. But it's clearly inspired by minecraft, I imagine if you asked Redigit his inspiration the first word out of his mouth would be 'Minecraft'. You're being disingeuous if you think this game developed in a vaccuum
