It's actually incredibly ironic that I saw this today, because I've just been thinking that I should give GameMaker another try, since my design-ish isn't all that different (just single player instead).  It's not programming, no, but at least it's a way of showing what's rattling around my head.  I have programmed stuff in Java before, and C++ was pretty similar.  It's making a graphical interface that always struck me as voodoo magic.

If you're talking about Castlevania vs Metroid, no. This is like saying that anything "Halo-like," "CoD-like," or "Portal-like" should be described as "Doom-like" instead because Doom came first.
