{Cy&H "Comic Sans Game" comic}
But Terraria's font is not Comic Sans.  The upper loop of its capital S juts far to the left, while in Comic Sans the left edge of the upper loop is to the right of the bottom end of the curve.  In the Tekton ripoff ("Technical") on my old Corel Gallery 2 CD, the bottom tail and left edge of the loop are about even.

It's close enough that I was thinking "is that Comic Sans?" when I first looked, but once I focused on that S, I could quickly rule it out.

Anyhow, Comic Sans is a decent font in my view, if not as good as "Terraria Sans".  Pity the free software community is making boatloads of pedestrian fonts (DejaVu, Droid, Liberation, Libertine, GNU freefont), all of which are basically redundant with the Helvetica and Times clones URW donated way back, instead of a GNU-sense free technical-style font.  Technical style is not represented in the "Postscript 35", and thus not in URW's set.  Well, at least Comic Sans is free-beer, sort of.

(Yeah, I know several of the fonts above have a much wider unicode repertoire, but do we need so many?)

Sometimes, I'd rather keep the world in which I've built a hell tower, but not run out of meteorite.

I should have noticed this a while ago. Meteor heads (which are infinite) drop meteorite ore when killed.

Yea, I think they should change the monster spawn method, it just feels really annoying and cheaty to never be able to clear an area  a bit and have to deal with constantly spawning mobs at the edges of the screen

I wonder if they stop once the (static) meteorite ore is all mined.  One answer means each summoned meteorite creates a permanent obstacle.  The other means a griefer, or even a naive player, can permanently derail the gravy train once all shadow orbs are gone.

Demonite would also appear to be renewable -- it comes from bosses that can be summoned endlessly.  And "necro" equipment would be renewable if cobwebs grow back.

This means, of the 8 tiers we know about (Wood, Copper, Iron, Silver, Gold, Demon, Meteor, Necro), it's only 4 of the bottom five that aren't renewable.

But they're the most abundantly occurring resources in the world. It's moot anyways, characters can have dozens of worlds to bring in resources from.

We assume. There was that uproar about bringing in outside stuff.

I think there was a "new characters only" server option mentioned. With a little forethought, you could easily stop bomb-farming griefers from pestering you.

Interworld item transfer is a cool idea to begin with.  But it has a problem.

Blue mentioned three classes of special items:
  • Super-rare items dropped in normal play, with rarity chosen to make it "impossible" for one player to collect them all.
  • Other bonus items that would be coded to be dropped when a Terraria developer is killed in PvP.
  • Special weapons, hidden even from the game's wiki, that would only be available to developers.  All fairly-obtainable "gun" weapons will have some sort of ammo or mana requirement, these won't.
That is a blatant challenge to inventory hackers.

Even if inventory hackers are somehow kept at bay, you'd then have the ordinary MMORPG problem of people farming rare items and then selling them for real-world money...

Anyhow, if public servers are programmed to trust the contents of a local savefile, there's no way to control either kind of cheat.  The best you could do is announce "honeypot" rare items in the wiki without coding the game to release them, then permabanning anyone found holding them after a delay.  But a cheater could do a lot of damage just with items he has seen respectable players use.

Interworld transfer of characters will only be safe within a community of players who can trust one another.

Oh wow? They are going to have items for killing or being on the dev team?

Yea, they just made sport of haxing out this game. And redigit might be able to write a good engine in a few months, but fuck he makes bad code. Honestly, a lot of the stuff in the early release was just sloppy to say the least. Chances are it won't be hard to break into the save files at all.

I would never play it with random people, I know for sure :). Due to multiple reasons. I hope they are sane people and make an easy way to organize "friend-only games".
