I never really tried magic so I decided to make a mage. Ended up making a Lich warmage "Perpetual Pimp" Papa Party(sometimes you get a funny alias and just have to roll with it). If Elochat decides to work you'll probably see me die a bunch ;)

At what point do you recommend using platinum to increase potentials?

I'd say when you have no more valuable skills to unlock, and aren't interested in increasing the size of your cart. And you don't know of any other ways to spend it.

Alternatively, if you are determined to grind a skill, spend plat if the potential isn't good. Grinding at 20% potential is just silly.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

Got the latest version of Elona+, thanks Robsoie. I used to play this quite a bit and I got nothing better to do, so why not get the latest version again? Time to make a rifle using pianist who uses charisma (it's not a dump stat!) to gather a small army of little girls to do his bidding while practicing his mad ivory skills. And then get stoned at a fancy party cuz some joker thought his music sucked.

What i found amazing with the Elona Plus 1.49fix + AnnaBannana custom translation mod is the re-introduction of the storyline (that had been removed for english version since forever) , it gives a very different (and better) atmosphere to Elona.

In the past i always played without a care about the npc or dialogues as it was mostly nonsense without a storyline to give depth to them, just generic dungeon crawling/world exploration that was fortunately fun on its own .

If you haven't played Elona Plus since lots of months, get 1.49fix + AnnaBannana custom mod, give it a new try with a new character , it feels nearly like a new game with a storyline and npc interactions.

Marcus, Righteous Platinum, a Juere pianist has begun his quest.

Marcus, Righteous Platinum runs into a boar and gets transformed into pieces of meat.

I love this game.

Currently having fun with preaching to train faith and will. I read that having a big enough audience can get you favor with your god and that something can happen if you have enough people. Anyone know how big of a crowd you need? Anyone with high faith able to test it?

I would assume that if it is possible to gain faith, it would depend on how many npcs you are able to convert. So try preaching at party time. Im not sure if you can score with preaching though.

Is the crash associated with preaching fixed? It has a pretty high chance to activate in 1.45.

That Elona+ Custom fixed it, I think, although it reportedly still might happen. As robsoie said, this is pretty much the best version out there because it's the most translated and has a few nice bugfixes and tweaks.

I think I read that the crash was due to when a npc throws stones at you

Training magic, realized that spell costs increase as your spell skill increases. And while I haven't confirmed it, looking at the rate cost increase, it seems very plausible that many spells would become uncastable because they cost more than your mana pool would allow, well before you become good enough at casting them to actually depend on them in combat.

This is completely stupid.

Is it even possible to play a mage without rendering your spells impossible to cast? And long before spells become impossible, they'd become impractical once you start getting to the point where you can only cast once or twice before you have to reset to restore mana. Casting costs seem to be increasing way faster than spell usefulness.

Am I missing something or is magic completely crippled?

Eh, never experienced that problem, and i do try to level my spells.
Are you using a race with low mana?
Only other way i can think of this happening is if you are using a costly spell in the early game without training your magic attribute.

I dunno, I have a 100% likely magic dart that does 7d21 damage at 10mp a cast. I have 164 mp, and I still regen it between casting. Also, if you're worried about success rates, getting a magic hat is really useful too, since that boosts casting by a good amount.

What is the newest version of Elona Plus and where do I get it WITH the English translation? The links I've seen are for the game itself, help!
