I think the color and $ number on quests changes depending on how strong you are. For example, you probably won't be seeing any drakes or chess pieces in green $$ hunting quests, but these days I get plenty. The game probably measures your power/fame and shows the difficulty relative to you. Or something. Basically what Ogdibus said.
Well, I do know that the available quests depends on the players fame and that higher fame makes quests with more $$ available.
But that was not really what i asked because it has always been this way, But i can't recall that one got more than 1 coin for each quest before.
Or maybe that was because i kept my fame low for power gaming purposes.

Bumparoo!

What are some of your favourite race and class combinations? For me:

Goblin Thief - Starts with all of the Fighter Guild's trademark skills (Dual Wield, Eye of Mind, Tactics) and can start buttering up to Ehekatl immediately. Magic Device and extra life is also awesome for a non-casting character.

Goblin Archer - Similar to the above, but with other strengths.

Elea Wizard - The go-to specialist caster combination, it might not be as specialized as Lich/Wizard, but not as frail and ugly either.

Juere Wizard - Not as good at magic as the above one, but comes with a lot of other useful skills and attributes in return.

Lich Claymore - Pour all feats into ascetic and one gets a caster that can kick some serious whoopass as well without equipment penalties getting in the way.

Lich Gunner - Similar to the above. Liches are seriously badass, though shame about the crappy strength.

Eulderna Predator - stronk speed, the non-shitty casting skills, cool utility skills, good combat skills, awesome attributes, magic resistance... a damn good Jack of all Stats.

Dwarf Predator - Stupidly strong, it also has some good skill synergies (Anatomy - Cooking, Detection - Jeweler). Start out with Firebreathing for some fun!

Golem Archer - Weight doesn't seem to affect riding - use this to your advantage to create the ultimate munchkin character! You're pretty screwed if your ride dies, though.

Fairy Pianist - resistances out the wazoo, 20 charisma, weightlifting, 130 mana, 120 speed... it's honestly pretty broken once the initial HP hurdle is overcome.

Aside from what you listed (Elea Wizard 4lyfe), there's always Yerles Farmer, or pretty much anything. While the start may be slow, the free bonus points are really helpful and save you platinum from training that you can use to get actual fighting skills.

Also, how do you get rid of anorexia besides death? I tried just drinking a bunch of potions to restore hunger, but they don't recover nearly enough. I also want to avoid vomiting as much as possible because seriously, stat loss is never good.

Drink lots of milk, and rest. I think there's a few bottles of milk at Lumiest. Otherwise, you'll need to kill yourself.

Eat at the innkeepers, you'll still puke but it refills your hunger to full immediately. Hopefully you can get through several sleeps with minimal puking. I've never had much luck with drinking potions to fill hunger, though you could try buying a big stack of cure minors and blessing them to increase the amount of hunger they fill.

I don't see much use in having high learning - unless one has "it stunts growth" equipment the necessary learning required to get more bonus points seems to be far too high, and rises every level. There's a rumour that it can speed up skill learning, but I don't know if it's true. The only tangible benefit seems to be some slight extra MP.

Thanks for the anorexia tips. I figured innkeeper food was the best non-suicide way out, but I eventually decided that losing some will was better than losing exp from every stat.

I meant the Yerles feat that gives you a single bonus point. I don't know if learning even gives any bonus points, since I have ~110 but still only get 5 per level. Granted, that's effective and not base, but still. Looking back, maybe a single point from Yerles racial feat isn't super extremely good.

E: I went shopping for some music discs at the Cyber Dome and remembered to check out the strange scientist's shop. Check out what I found:

Now there is something you don't see everyday. Seven league boots which are quite rare, then it is also a set of artifact slb's which is exceedingly rare to say the least, and rarer still... they have useful bonus' on them. Congratulations on an awesome find.

Thanks. Most of the luck was in actually getting the seven league boots drop from the strange scientist's list in the first place. After that, it's just a whole lot of talking to her, looking at the boots' stats, and rerolling them over and over again by ending and restarting conversation. Then there's the material to worry about.

And then you find that the staff is a cursed bloodsucking 500g weapon and the scroll is a scroll of mapping, and the potion is poison.

The scroll is Faith, which is pretty nice. I forget the potion you get besides cure corruption, but I think it's either potential or one of the permanent speed buff ones. Identify all that to be sure.

Over here, I thrashed Zeome with lightning bolts a while back and watched the new (?) Orphe cutscene about the Origin of Vice. Now I'm just biding my time until I hit level 70, then I'll go play in the south.

I also beat Frisia, who's a joke if you have around 300 DV and PV. High ranked Holy Shield and Feather help a lot. For some reason, she took HUGE damage from Magic Dart (3500), even more than Nightmare+Dark/Nerve Eye (600). Tried to take on Utima as well, and was similarly doing okay until I got hit once by the Rail Gun and Chaos Ball procced, destroying me. Looks like high DV is essential since it'll never invoke if it never hits. My chaos resist and PV were both high.
