You may be waiting a fair amount of time then. Nearly all of Southern Tyris has been translated, but left on the wiki and there doesn't seem to be an effort to add that to the main game.

It's well worth to pick up Elona+ even if you don't plan on entering the other continents at all; there's been a plethora of improvements to game mechanics and nearly all of the main continent is translated. Some exceptions are Miral/Girals new effects, Black Gauntlet Leold (Who doesn't really do anything until you reach S.Tyris), and Itzpalt's dialogue when you speak to him.

And to be honest, the continent that is fully English capable is a massive amount of content. I've been playing for a couple of years now, and I still haven't beaten that continent. Possibly because I'm a worthless layabout, but the point still stands.

Yes, the (original) northern continent of Elona is fully playable for years, even if the storyline had been removed from the english translation making Elona more sandbox, you can still continue to play forever in the north continent and enjoy it without even feeling the need to go to the southern one even after beating Zeome.

In fact i'm not sure exactly why but i think that the north continent is better designed than the southern one and feels less "put together quickly" than the southern one, making you go back at it much more than in the south.
Maybe the translation plays a role too.

I've been transferring my character from version to version without a hitch.  (There is some sort of guide to do that without anything messing up somewhere.)
