Hey, I play wizards. Using Element Scar and Nightmare is actually a good way to increase your damage. Also use buffs like Feather and Holy Shield, and don't be afraid to just pull a weapon and beat people with that instead of always using magic.

As for damage, yeah, you will need to cast the same spell dozens and dozens of times. The mage's guild is a big help here, as you can just order spellbooks of nerve arrow or magic dart or whatever so you don't have to be afraid of running out of stocks.

...My wizard did end up using melee after the main quest though...

I think i read that you can use charge magic device on books in E+. So get carpentry and start making rods to drain.

Oh yeah, you can do that. But I also heard there's a chance for the recharged item to explode if you recharge it too much, so don't go too crazy.

Yeah, I was afraid of that.  I don't know that I have the patience to keep training up Nerve and Dark arrows.  Blah, maybe I'll save scum myself a gene without destroying my character, so I can hit the ground running with someone melee.  Any thoughts on stuff I should gather up before I can do it?  I kinda feel like dual wielding light sabers, so material kits are one thing, but I'v enever actually used 'make a gene' so I dunno what else I'd want to give.

I don't know about you, but finding seven league boots/aurora rings/speed rings/cloaks of vindale was really time consuming for me, so you might want to pass those. Other than that, other generic good stuff (potions of potential/cure corruption/evolution, scrolls of faith/superior material/blessed change material, stuff along those lines) is good.

Does it pass down randarts?  I know it passes down pokeballs, but I can't figure out what's good with a level 30 pokeball still in inventory.

Yes, as long as it's not marked precious. Then it's a fixed artifact and you can't pass those.

Hm, is it worth it to pick up casting on a pure melee just to get the buffs online more easily?  Stuff that doesn't check resistance is still actually useful, after all.  Granted, dual wielding drops casting success notably, so I don't know if I can get any of the useful extras like 4-D Pocket or Identify.  I actually never got an aurora ring :(

So piety boosters, randarts I'll actually want, pokeballs (...I should go catch a silver-eyed witch), my blue capsule drags, basic crap you wish for...  maybe cure my ether disease so I can pick up my Dominate Rods.  Sadface - with even wizards fighting in melee... :(

Are Ether weapons a really ridiculous increase or something?  By the time I actually get to wielding lightsabers, I should have an even more ridiculous stack of Cure Corruption, after all.

I don't know about the ether material, I never used any ether stuff because I'm paranoid and hate the disease. Elea for ether resist + cloak of vindale + hoarding potions of cure corruption = me.

Side warning: you won't be able to pass down the drags, since they're precious.

I always cast Heroism and Holy Shield whenever I'm engaging in melee. I suggest these spells for any heavy-melee-but-still-a-hint-of-spell-casting kinda guy.

Feather if you are a dodgy/glassy type.  Like Claymore Fairy.

But yea, Holy Shield/Heroism really helps when you are getting hit by magic.

Out of curiosity, are there any good levels to be using scrolls of Ally at to get good pets? I've got a few and I'm wondering where the "good" pets (for long-term) are level-wise. I'm playing Elona+.

Tarran has the "Tarran Bug", a bug which causes the affected character to repeatedly hit teammates while dual-wielding instead of whatever the hell he is shooting at.

I believe I used one at level 28 and got a <blade omega>. It's pretty rad. Helped a lot in the Zeome fight by making him bleed a lot. It also helps how it's not just any blade omega, it's a fancy boss with brackets.

Other than that, no, I got nothing.
