Tell him to get a grenade. Grenades are pretty awesome for their 3x3 radius of 'lots-o-damage', so your friend should be able to deal damage over a greater area. Also, throw water at invisible things, they gulp it (Or something like that) and then they become visible.

I found grenades is tuned down in Elona+. They don't explode as often as in vanilla (that's with [###]). Try throwing LOTS of molotov or acid instead.

If you have spell/wands of wall creation, use them. Lack of space will prevent mass monsters from splitting (though they may attempt to slowly dig through it, so prepare lots of wands).

Otherwise you need to be able to hit hard so you one-shot them.

Unfortunately he's already said "fuck it" and went wizard mode, fought them with kinda alright gear for about 15 minutes, then ended up accidentally wiping everything out of his storage house. Monsters, items, everything. I'll tell him just so he knows how to handle them in the future, though. :P
Also, he wasn't using splash weapons because it was his storage house with quite a bit of things in it.

Is this worth playing, seriously?

It's always looked interesting, but at the same time looks incredibly awful.

I'd recommend it. If you don't know what your doing it can be a bitch to get off the ground, but the hilariousness and fun make up for that easily. It is an excellent game with a very creepy side that is simply great.

Something about this game makes me wonder why God lets it exist.
Say, if you give birth on a ranch and then murder your baby will a corpse drop be guaranteed?

To give you an idea of the hijinx that sometimes go down in this game, at one point I was walking through vernis, the town closest to your home, up north of the bar, heading to do something or another, when one of the bar patrons (the dungeon cleaner, pyramid looking dude) EXPLODES THROUGH THE WALL and murders me for, so far as I can tell, NO DAMN REASON.

I mean on one hand, I did lose stat points, but on the other hand it was so ridiculous I just couldn't help but laugh. The stat points will come back, and the mental image of a person smashing through the wall of a bar to brutalize a passerby while nobody even bats an eye at it will last forever.

Are you playing as a snail? Dungeon cleaner is *very* dangerous to you then. It throws salt at you...

Ach, why doesn't my return scroll teleport me out before the nuke explodes? I waited 15 turns before plopping the nuke down.
Nuke made me overweight. Cheaped out and bought a scroll of escape only to run around the ruins killing beggars and nobles.

"(Note: as of 1.16xmas, the spell takes twenty turns to activate)"

Haven't counted how many it is in Elona+...

Sitting in Derphy, with 50 charisma and -81 karma, along with a pair of candy panties from yet another wish. The bomb kept putting me at overweight, so I had to buy an escape scroll.

Just dump everything at home (including equipment), buy the bomb, and run to whereever you need to go.
If you're going to palmia, though you'll have a tough time bringing enough food without becoming immobile.

Though cargoes of food don't add to your weight, and you can generally scavenge enough nuts, leaves and plants from the local map while traveling.

I remember nuking palmia. Netted me some nice loot...

I was hoping someone rare would die. Then again, I always read books in the throne room incase monsters happened...

Nope, normal person. Never threw anything at me, and I lasted a few turns in melee even, before it pasted me. I may have been using one of the debug races though I guess.
