I had a very advanced warrior... very high level, got nearly all the artifacts from the dungeon bosses. But because she's so advanced, she gets insanity causing enemies in dungeons, making the game extremely difficult to finish.

Huh, I wasn't even aware Noa had quit developing the game, that explains why it's been a year since the last Beta version. Some people have already taken up the reins though, with the source provided.

Haven't played in a year or so, but I have a level 30 warmage with decent stats. Sort of gave up on the game because it was not only too grindy...but there wasn't really much to it other than grindiness.

RE: Keeping low levels->Potions of descent are your friends!  Yes, I used the plural, because you'll need a lot of these wonderful potions, which lower your level by one each!  Invest in your favorite magic dealer for a steady supply, and suddenly you'll have a character that can precariously hover below level 25 forever!

Oh, and XP gains really decrease with level.  However, the maximum realistic level is around 50, so keep that in mind.

Mutants should never go over the level at which they obtain the same number of body parts as normal humanoids.

*Running around as a level 5 Yerlas Archer, so playing as bear dragoon*
Hey look, somebody was murdered, I wonder if there is a lost wallet around!
*Looks around*
*Sees the dead body of creepy graveyard guy*
*Takes sword that ends all*

I AM THE GOD OF WAR!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yeah, assassinated NPC is a wonderful source of great loot early on... but it doesn't always happen, and you don't always get great stuff.

I think the next best thing is killing people in party quests. If you kill a lot of beggars you might even get lucky and receive a great artifact - that's how I got that one for the first time.

How much do you need to invest to get potions of descent? I'm getting regular PoPotentials at around ~60, but have never seen a PoDescent.

Dunno really.

Would anyone be interested in a "Let's Play and Try to Actually Beat Elona"? It'll probably end up being a succession game, since nobody has enough gumption to run it through to the end.

I'd love to see a LP of Elona.  And from what I've seen in this thread, your LP would be highly instructive.  Let your successors play as your decendents!

Might be a bit hard to beat seeing as the main quest isn't finished yet. :P

The main project is Jdstroy's project to port it to Java, I'm working on with the HSP version, cuz hey, god mode's fun :P

I keep getting scrolls of oracle, and they are madly valuable, so i sell them. However I WANT to use them yet when i do all they do is give me a town and date. I don't see how this is useful to me at all unless it's telling me where to go to find an item I cannot afford.

Also, are artifacts things that are named? Or is it more complicated then that?

It tells you where artifacts are.

Sell them. Unless you go to a party, because then you know if its there.
