Someone found a candy shot gun called 'Without Control'. So true.

I can't seem to find ANY casino chips since I picked this game back up a few days ago. I'm running 1.22 with the 'fan patch' installed (fixes the blackjack display bug, amongst other things).

Is there some unknown bug in this version where casino chips cannot be found in material spots? Seriously; I'm level 9, 29 hours into the game, have 200 driftwood/pebbles/charcoal and a massive assortment of other materials. Yet I have never - not even once - found a chip, besides the ten free ones you get when you first play at a table.

It's starting to get a little frustrating. :/

Had the exact same problem playing 1.22+patch a few months ago.  I did not find a single Casino Chip, save for the 10 that you get when playing for the first time.  Not a total game-breaking problem, but it does make Cure Corruption potions harder to acquire.  Can't remember if I had the same problem with Coins though.  I've gone back to the x-mas version

Damn! Exactly what I didn't want to hear, lol... oh well, thanks for confirming it. :( Do newer saves work on older versions? I'm thinking most likely not.

*Edit: Hm. Did some browsing on the official forum and discovered there are a lot of even newer versions being created by the Japanese community. From the discussion, it even sounded like they're compatable (i.e. translated) for the English version. :o

Here's the direct link to the post with the download, you can read the rest of the thread from there, someone listed the changelog and it sounds rather awesome: http://elona.squares.net/forum/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=4777&start=210#p30371

No idea if it fixes the chips and whatnot, but I'mma give it a try! :D I PLAYED FOR FIVE MINUTES AND GOT MY FIRST CHIP!! This version rocks! It has so many new options (sfx volume control: yay), new stat sheets, AI control for pets... I haven't played long enough to discover any bugs, but I highly recommend this already. :D

Just an update, but I haven't encountered any new bugs so far in this version (ELM 1.22 r32).

There's several features I'm really loving so far:

Pets don't eat food off the ground, meaning they won't steal corpses if I don't get there in time. You can still give them food, though, and they'll eat it, but they'll refuse to take Cursed or Poisoned stuff.

NPCs may drop bottles of blood, eggs, shit, and occasionally water, when they die. In fact, the first bottle of water I've found on this character is a "bottle of old man water". ...Not sure if want... :|

You now choose your recipe when you cook. This is my favourite improvement by far. I stick to cooking low-skill foods like "fried x" or "x cookies" so there's less chance of failure when grinding, and then when I find quests asking for specific foods, I can focus my attempts on cooking exactly what they need.

There's also supposed to be a menu that pops up after Party Time quests, giving you a chance to grab any tossed loot you missed, but I've never seen it... maybe that's on a more recent beta version or something.

Anyway, highly recommend this version to anyone thinking of picking up the game after a long break. It's certainly done a lot to refresh the gameplay for me. :)

I had no idea there was so many continuation projects (the thread mention dozen of forks).
Thanks for reporting this, the "customize your minions AI" sounds rather interesting.
Once i'm finished with save scuming my character repeatedly in the xmas version, i'll give a try to this new one.

No kidding, take a look: http://translate.googleusercontent.com/translate_c?hl=en&rurl=translate.google.com&sl=ja&tl=en&twu=1&u=http://www47.atwiki.jp/elona_valiant/pages/27.html&usg=ALkJrhgW817qj6shUG1-ZIhhhx9aA_6GGA (Argh, long link is long...)

The three most popular forks appear to be Omake, ORE Hack and ELM. As far as I can make out, ELM (the version I've been using) is a modified version of ORE. I can't read Japanese, and the only difference I can find is that it mentions "aphrodisiac" a lot... and something to do with the Ether disease...?? I dunno. xD

Omake sounds like a more 'faithful' fork, based on 1.22 official, and mostly deals with bugfixes. But it also contains all those new systems (pet AI control, et al), and gives toggle options for all the new stuff in case you don't want them. It sounds like the most feature-advanced fork, in terms of new stuff added.

I could be wrong, but that's what Google Translate is telling me. I'm tempted to start a new game using Omake actually.

It's hard to pick a fork when I've got almost no idea what the changes are or if they're save compatible. I wonder if any of them will be translated to English later. . .  :-\

Um... quick question... does the Little Sisters' Mansion respawn?

Because something very bad is happening right now...

The Sister's Mansion never resets, unless you use the map reset cheat.

Will that mark my character as a 'cheater' in any way? Does it require Wizard mode? (I've never used it before)
