Picasso Waterfall
« on: December 17, 2007, 08:27:00 pm »

Made this last night from image exports. Sorry if you can't read the text.
That's top layer, 1 zlevel down, 2 levels down, and 10 levels down in that order.
The water flows in an odd outcropping about 15 tiles out on air, then falls. I can't get the suspended water to fall. Maybe when it freezes then unfreezes.

The light blue surface tiles make it look like a brook. Not sure why there's open space UNDER it, but a brook itself is considered water flowing through rock, not just flowing water, so it's still contained by Z-1's solidity. Until you dig a channel on it, that is.

That is probably a bug. Although it could be an unexplained feature. Build a fort under it.

Not much room for a fort. But I could confuse visitors by having the entrance below a water roof.

I know there's water in the 1 level down level, but is there also a floor?

Hey Idiom, Any chance you can export the bitmaps, compress it, and upload to the DF Map Archive? I'm a curious soul.

I came across this bug as well in an earlier version, if I recall correctly.  In my case, the whole thing was frozen over year round, and there was only one z-layer of nothing between the ice and the grass.

So in my case it was as follows -

Top Layer: Frozen brook
-1 Z: Ice Wall
-2 Z: Open Space
-3 Z: Grass

Not nearly as impressive as the ten z-layers of open space beneath flowing water, though, I have to admit.

Yeah, it creates walls for rivers when they happen to get out of the way, but apparently it failed to fill the wall in.  The bottom of the brook has a floor, yeah.  In general, it would be nice if it just chose to create the waterfall right when the brook first hits the lower area, but there are some annoying problems with that approach.
