Actually, realistically inbreeding is not harmful to a race until it's gone on for many generations.  The first few generations don't affect the creatures negatively.

hm. a fort that i had started a few months back, and my computer crashed shortly after...

it was my first group of migrants...9 dwarves with various lvl 3-5 weapon skills, and one guy who's job was listed trader cuz he had lvl 10 appraiser and 5 judge of intent ;.;

My best first wave was for my current fort.  I only got 6 dwarves but they were all competant-skills in sword/axe/spear dwarves and they brought cows and female yaks and two ducks.  Jump start of my military AND milk and eggs.  It worked out wonderfully for me.

My best in recent memory was only four guys. A Miner, Brewer, Fisherdwarf and Mason/Engraver. The Fisherdwarf had hammering skills and became my Militia Commander.

Wait... there is such thing as a good migrant wave? if it weren't for ghosts I'd probably kill them all. The ideal migrant wave for me would be a (small) flock of nothing but peasants.

I think my favorite migrant wave had 2 peasants in it, with something like 7 dwarves.

It was a good combo, and two legendaries in one wave? That's pretty lucky, even if they're just crap jobs.

Mind elaborating a bit? It feels kind of dickish to just go and say someone's wrong without explaining, but that's my opinion.
