Adamantine becomes actual cotton candy, however, which is useless. Since there's no longer adamantine to dig for, the fort lacks purpose and is abandoned.

WWUD If he invented real cotton candy?

Die from shame at having cut a beard, for it is worse than cannibalism and elves in their society.

WWUD If all dwarves everywhere, in each parallel world, united in a Coalition of the Beard, in which they ceremoniously cut off their beards, piled them all into one huge pile and lit it on fire for he Glory of Armok. Adding some alcohol, of course, to give it that extra dimension of bomb.
