Urist chose the position of lye maker because it was a do nothing job. When the overseer learned he could inflict supply his dwarves with lutefisk, demand for lye went up and Urist became a potash maker instead.

WWUD if the beekeeping industry collapsed?

This is a masterfully prepared coffee bean roast. The ingredients are minced whale tallow, minced dwarven flour, minced dwarven syrup, and minced coffee beans.
