WWUD if the barrel of booze he wanted to drink was being transported by minecart in an infinite loop?

Nothing. It's like the old parable of the donkey and two equally-sized bales of hay, except that the sock is inched closer as the dwarf's thirst increases by a cruel cat.

What would Urist do if a goblin killed the cat in the middle of this process?

Dig up some chalk and then unleash the resulting swarm of tiny undead sea creatures upon the elves. Of course magma would be needed to reclaim the surface after the elves had been rasped and nibbled to death, but that's pretty much standard faire for a fortress.

WWUD if he found a necromancer in the fortress graveyard.
