Hey Gendo.

I added an action to my post.

Guess you didn't notice it since it was an edit, though.

CHAPTER 8: Sneaky Sectoids

: "Why? What gives you the right to use people like that? What right do you have to throw them away?"

: Because if I'm not prepared to sacrifice lives, then a hell of a lot more people are going to die. What is it, Simon? Would you rather leave the entire world to burn so you can spend quality time with your friends?

He might have killed me right then and there.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Thankfully, a UFO attack managed to save us from a standoff like that. We left on uneasy terms, but I was alive. So long as he continues to work for the good of X-COM I won't have to kill him.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: This is a standard seek and destroy mission. Find the UFO, and wipe out any life inside. No mercy.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Fine. I'm moving up in the Lagann-Tank... wait, what is that up there?

: It's a Sectoid, SHOOT IT! Wait, I'll get it! ... HEY WAIT A MINUTE, WHY DO I HAVE A RIFLE INSTEAD OF MY DAKKA?

: Our equipment's been mixed up!

: That doesn't matter right now. Simon, fire!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: I... I didn't kill it! Just the wall!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: I'm being attacked from all directions! I need cover fire!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: There's your cover. One in the building's dead... wait, no it's moving!

*PCHOO*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Codecimal! FEEL THE WRATH OF THE HELL-QUEEN!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Nice shot, Lizzy. Everyone get out there and start fighting!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: This is Asuka, I've found a building to take cover in. Shinji, help me clear it!

: Oh, um, all right.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Everyone out! Move move move!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: We have fire coming from the northwest! Seek them out and destroy them, Simon!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: I've got him here! *click* Damn, my gun is jammed!

: Kharn can help! First Dakka, then Johnathan fires the rocket! Go!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Hey, it worked. Great teamwork, Kharn.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Hey! There's another Sectoid up in that house!

: I've got 'im!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Or maybe I don't got 'im...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Crap, I missed too!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Got you that time, alien scum!

: Hey, who left this door open? I'll close it. *thck*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: EEEEEEEEEEEEE

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Whew. He's dead.

*PCHOO*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Ack! That shot tore down the wall! Shinji, did you see where it came from?

: No, did you?

: No. Okay, Shinji, head upstairs and try to scout him out. I'm heading back down to search.

: E-everyone? I have some bad news...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

No!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Killed another one. How many more can there be?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: A lot, apparently. Go find that bastard and kill him, Simon!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: T-This is Shinji. No sign of any aliens from the top. But it's dark, so I can't see very far...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Kharn here. Leading team into the ship, going to kill everybody inside!

: And I've spotted another alien!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: He's dead, now.

: Simmura here. I'll be the first one in. Goodbye, Sectoid! *Bang bang bang bang*

*PCHOO*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Simmura! He's dead!

: RRRRRGH, GONNA REGRET THAT ONE!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Move up. We have one more room to clear.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Uh oh... I've found one!

: Get away, Shinji. Get to cover and Simon can finish him.

: N...no! I've watched too many of my friends die since I joined this stupid group. I'm FINISHED standing by! I'll never let a friend die again, not without these monsters paying for it in blood!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Hmph. I'm impressed, Shinji.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This mission was a disaster. For all my experience, I never expected the Sectoids to lay a trap for us, and yet we lost two of our best soldiers in the crossfire. And the others didn't come off unscathed; I don't know how long Simon will need to repair the Lagann-Tank, and even if I let him do it, how long will it be before he uses it to free the upstart?

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

Due to his excellent service under pressure, Tarvish has taken Simmura's spot as Sergeant. Simmura was a good man, and will be sorely missed. But right now he is the least of my concerns, between balancing research and manufacturing, and trying to keep my own soldiers from rebelling. Luckily, I have a plan to deal with it.

Gendo, logging out.

I maintain that Dave's death is merely a practical joke and that he'll be back soon enough.

Simon is in the vehicle bay, looking over Lagann.
: Can't rescue him right now, Gendo'll have me watched. I cannot help but admit that he has a point, though. Given the choice, I would probably agree with him, but if he does have Aniki, why is he keeping him locked up? and why does he still have Gurren? This makes no sense. I need to find some way to get into that room without setting off that shock system. I wonder if the engineers keep blueprints of the base handy...
Checking over the tank, Simon shakes his head.
: I could get you back in shape in seconds, but it'll wear off after a few minutes. I'll need to figure out what's broken and get with some engineers to fix it. Say what you want about Leeron, but he would be incredibly useful right about now.
Simon climbs into the cockpit, and fires up the lagann.
: Alright, lets see...
Various readouts appear as if out of nowhere, detailing what parts are damaged. He removes the core drill and exits the tank.
: Now I just need to find someone who can fix you...

: YAY! finally got me some kills. These weapons are fun. Not as powerful as my fireball attack, but still... it's a far cry from using swords up close.
: Although now, we lost 2 more guys. Probably the most normal or balanced of us. At least, according to everyone else.

: By Greg's logic, that make Greg the most balanced person at X-Com. Yays!

...Lizzy think Simon let Greg attach himself to Simon's tank?
