How the hell is that? I pretty much one-shot everything at the start in that game.
What, on Superhuman?

As director of X-COM, I have the final say. Tanks will be used on terror missions, and when expanding to new bases will spearhead our efforts. In the meantime, Simon is free to also pilot an interceptor, and switch vehicle designs as necessary.

Today, but not necessarily soon today. Give me six hours, and I should at least be in the process of uploading the screenshots.

Meant to mention how pleased I am with being Captain, but sort of got drowned out by the unfathomable madness.

Madness? THIS! IS! SOMEWHERE IN AFRICA!

Which also seems to be the focal point for a HELL of a lot of inter-dimensional crossovers.

If I know my Africa well, we should be somewhere near Dakar, Senegal.

Spoiler: Picture (click to show/hide)

Name: Sollex
Gender: Male
Preferred equipment: Autocannon w/ HE rounds, Blaster Launchers...
Bio: Claims to be a priest.  When asked about anything else, states that "that...is a secret".  Is apparently not to be confused with Xellos.  Ever.  Occasionally complains about his name's resemblance to some troll somewhere.

Well, I've just finished the newest battle against the alien menace, and I have to say the dwindling numbers of X-COM must be having a field day with Shinji's psyche.

CHAPTER 7: BSack to BSusiness

After yesterday's incident, I decided to take the calm moments to go over our achievements.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

This was a good start. Laser weapons, in theory, require no ammunition, and could be used almost endlessly by our troops. A good backup weapon to use in a pinch.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

With our scientists freed up, I divided them among several projects. The progress will be slow, but once we get new quarters built I can bring in more of them to continue research.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

I went to the map to check on local weather patterns, only for this to pop up. The alarm blared, and the troops jumped into the Skyranger, all except for one. She needed to be woken up in person.

...

: Asuka. Wake up.

: ...*groan* Ugh, wait, w-what? Where am I? Gendo, is that you?

: A rogue bullet caught you in the head. You've been out for over a day, but your vacation time is officially up. You have a mission, now get to it.

: Uh... right. Right, sorry.

: Wait a minute. Why haven't you denied that your name is Asuka yet?

: Why would I deny that? Whatever, I'll be down in the Skyranger.

: ...Quibble? It's Gendo. Operation Hard Wipe is a success.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Today you get a special treat: a daytime mission. No civilians in the area, but this is the largest ship we've seen, so I want all of you on high alert.

: Roger, boss! All right boys, move out! Ikari--

: It's Asuka.

: Well, whoever you are, clear the barnhouse! Lizzy, take the shacks to the south!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: It's all clear here.
: Same here. Nothing so far.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Rest of us are heading west. Shinji and I've got point.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Sergeant Williams, guard the Skyranger!
: That's a shit post, I'm not doing it!
: You're the only thing holding our fallback point, you are going to guard that jet and you are going to like it.
: Fine. Ma'am.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: I've spotted the ship. It's a big'un, anybody spot the door?
: No, I have--wait!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: That's the door, I'm certain!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Entry team, form up! Codecimal, Shinji, Tarvish, Dave, and Uriel, get to that door! Everyone else provide cover.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: All right, chaps, I'm ready! Open the door and I'll fry these ET bastards.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: There's one now! Opening fire! *bang*
: Wait, something's wrong. It's been hit, but it's still standing--oh no *PCHOO* BLUH

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: DAVE! NOOOOOOOOO! FRY YOU SON OF A BITCH!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: That's what happens when you kill my friend!

: O-oh god, Dave!
: Shinji! Calm down or I swear on my own grave I'll activate your shock collar!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: No time to mourn, we have to kill the rest of them. Uriel, you go with Greg on the left. Shinji, Codecimal, you take the right. Provide cover for them, Tarvish.
: ...

: I'm coming with you, Shinji.
: Lizzy, I forbid you from going into that ship.
: SHUT UP, FATHER!
: 0_o
: I am a grown woman, and more importantly I am the warrior princess of Hell! I am more than capable of storming one ship!
: ...Fine. Go if you want, but don't think I'm going to share the oranges I'm making Shinji bring back with him.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Everybody set? 'Kay, Greg say go!

: Moving up!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: There's one now. Opening fire.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: He's down, moving forward.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Shit, another one-- *PCHOO* Aw, damn it! He got my arm!
: NO!
: Uh oh.
: YOU CAN'T TAKE ANOTHER ONE! I'LL KILL YOU FIRST!

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

*WHIRRRRRRRRRR-BZZZZZZZZZT*

: What the hell just happened?
: That was Spiral Energy!
: ... WHAT THE HELL JUST HAPPENED?
: With all his anger built up, he must have been able to tap into the energy and unleash it! Didn't you see the drill that hit the alien?
: Of course I saw the drill, how could I miss it?! But, we don't have time for that. We still have more aliens to kill. Line up on the door, everyone.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Yay, Greg get to lead now! *swoosh*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Hi alien. Grenade gonna go BOOM! *toss*
: No, Greg, just shoot him! If you toss the grenade he can--

*PCHOO*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)
:

: Ow. Miss Lizzy? Greg has a boo-boo on his entire torso. *hrk*

: G-GREG??
: No! No, no, no, no no nonono--
: GgggggrrrrrrraaaaaaaAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA--

: He's going critical, somebody bring him down!

: On it!

*THWACK, thud*

*BOOM*

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

The mission was a success, if one defined a success very loosely. The alien threat was entirely eliminated, and the more I hear about this Spiral Energy the kid keeps talking about, the more intrigued I am. But at the same time, losing operatives Dave and Greg was a major blow. I've put in the order for several new recruits, but they won't be here for a while. In the meantime...

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

: Hey, Kid. Simon, right?
: Uh, yeah! What is it?
: Get to work on upgrading that tank of yours, we'll be sending it into battle on the next mission.
: Wow! You really mean it?
: In case you haven't noticed, we're a little hard-pressed for soldiers. So yes, I mean it.

Spoiler (click to show/hide)

We have a lot of new buildings to integrate into the base. I tried to put in an order for the troops' preferred weapons today, and was informed we were out of storage space. All we have to do to fix that is make a little more.

Gendo, logging out. I have a letter to write to Dave's parents.
