*Walks up and slaps Lizzy*
: Snap outta it girl. You aint no all powerful demon in this dimension. You can't bend the space of the ship to add enough room for a tank.

OOC: Guys, quit asking for tanks. It's a douchebag move. Each tank brought on a mission means 4 actual soldiers can't come.

Yes, but those four soldiers are all likely to die. Whereas tanks SHOULD have a lot more survivability.

Obviously, us expendable troops are much more useful. Trade star is selling our services at half price for X-Com! That, and tanks blow up quite easily.

That makes no sense. Aren't they usually heavily armored? whereas troops can't even take one shot until the late game?

However, us troops can improve our skills. In addition, plasma fire melts through the tanks quite easily. Trust me, I know.

Plasma fire melts through pretty much EVERYTHING easily.

And Tanks can have bigger guns than people.

But I'm fine with being a glorified engineer until we get a bigger ship.

Mate, it's all in the hand of the RNG. One plasma pistol shot can wreck a tank, or one plasma pistol shot could half damage a soldier. Soldiers are superior in every way compared to a tank. The only reason to use them is as a scouting tool to take the first enemy fire, or as a way to maximize the amount of units you get at Cydonia, where the 80 item cap is a bitch.

Rag, it's all your fault. You should have seen how there were over 9000 people already signed up, and who expect to actually get a chance.

...

I don't really see how squishies would be superior.

Must be a weird quirk of the game.

Mostly I just wanted the tank to fit with the character, due to the fact that he uses a vehicle.

I guess I could switch to piloting one of the ships, if you want.

(Back in the R&R Hall Armory)
: I don't think I got through to him. He seems to have given me the silent treatment. Just as well, it didn't help that I could hear everyone outside the office yelling about how it's not a good idea to let Project: L4G-AAN out. I think Daddy's got his research team trying to figure it out, and why it has a face on it. It registers as an alien artifact as far as the big red CLASSIFIED mark tells me. I did what I could.

Simon finishes stowing his drill.
: I don't blame you for it. At least I can be useful making some new rooms. At least I have something to do. I'd like to be able to pilot SOMETHING at least, though.

: Guess I'll tell you tis while I'm sober. Since we don't have grenade launchers, could I be loaded with a rocket launcher, some grenades, and a pistol? And whoever told me where they keep the whiskey, your not getting your money

All considered, the tanks in this game are ridiculously tiny and remote controlled. Also note this line:
"Remember, your equipment is always made by the lowest bidder."

The best equipment that tanks have early game are rocket launchers, which could be substituted by the normal soldier, who can also enter UFOs while Tanks can't. Tanks also cause ridiculous collateral damage.
