Kobolds lay eggs?

I wasn't thinking of them as lizardy kobolds.

Do I increase the batches by altering the second number in the clutch?

...

Yes, I started a topic to  do this. I noticed when modding for a kobold adventurer so...

I know, I was kinda suprised when I figgered out kobolds were reptilian too, but I by no means find them lizardy.

I struggle with the perceptions of Kobolds in more than just Dwarf Fortress. In DnD games people are often suprised they're not rat people.  They are, and always have been in lore, slimy lizard things.

In DnD lore, late editions, only. In earlier editions they were puppy-men.
In folkloire a kobold could be a shapeshifter, so it could be anything. Basically an evil cave spirit.

In DF they are furry brown-furred goblinoids laying eggs.

That's an interesting tidbit, never noticed that until now. Now I have a better idea of how they might look.

It's worth noting that the kobolds in DF have no fur or even hair of any sort in their descriptor, whereas everything else (like trolls for instance) has a very clear one. Skin is their prominent feature, so I don't believe you are correct on this one, even if it may have been true for Kobold Quest.

1. The first number is the minimum number of eggs, the second is the maximum. At least, that's how it is for live births.
2. Try the modding area.
3. As far as I know, you can't lay eggs in adventurer mode.

I wasn't trying to lay eggs in adventure mode, I was trying to make Kobold civilisation. I'd bolstered the max civs + sizes, I was trying to boost the chances of a succesful Civ. Haven't seen one since before night creatures were added. To be fair if you could lay eggs i'd just use them as provisions anyway.

On a more important note,I want a platypus adventurer. Or at least a picture of one. I mean it'd rule, they have poisonous spurs and an adorable awkwardness.

Question 2: How do I make it so people don't try killing my Kobold adventurer in its sleep? I mean, I can talk to them and walk into them fine, but as soon as I sleep something staps and they attack me. Usually once non-fatally. Then I can't sleep there anymore and the bogeys get me. I heard it was automatic hostility.

Mind you, I could always go back to playing as a human. But those races are so dull.

Pity i'd have more problems with a werewolf or a leech adventurer.

That doesn't happen to me. Have you tried doing a few jobs before sleeping in a human civ? I usually hunt night creatures and sleep in their lairs until I have a bit of fame.

Wait, why did I think they were rat people as well? I was under this perception, but I just typed in "kobold" into google images and pretty much everything is a lizard. Why did I think this and why is this a common misconception? Is there some magical connotation with the word that makes people immediately think "rat"? Or is there some old thing involving kobolds that I used to be exposed to that I don't remember where they were rat people.

P.S. I have never played World of Warcraft; I am not that much of a loser.

I've never thought of kobolds as lizards, in anything.

Mostly due to the fact that most of those things already have lizardmen as a well.

And tiny, puppy-goblins are just so much funner-er-er-er.

Not at all to be confused with gnolls however. Stupid coyote-goblin things, always messing around and getting their arms chopped off so people have to sew them back on even though he only has one hand, but "oh," they say, "you are the most powerful one handed man in the world! You must! You must!"

F@*k. That. S#%t.

I always thought kobolds were lizard puppy things. Best of both worlds!
The lizard part comes from playing a bit of D&D.
The puppy part comes from Ragnarok Online, where they're little annoying puppy people.

My perception of kobolds is colored by Suikoden, where they're dog-like people of a size between humans and halflings. This is Kuromimi, as an example.

Oh hell naw.

Small, spear wielding, tunnel digging, trap-laying, mischievous, yelping lizard people is my perception of them.
