"Before you develop a conscience, torture is amusing."
—Paul Graham

The sad truth is that bullying another fact of life, whether you're a little kid or a grown adult. There will always be "that guy" who abuses your inability to defend yourself (physically or socially).

Why the hell is cyberbullying a crime in Australia while regular bullying is not?

Nobody is willing to fix the old system, may as well start fresh on the new system I guess.

Meh, get strong, beat the asshole.

Only applicable if it's isolated assholes not supported by their community and/or you're not widely seen as an acceptable target.

Bullying is "illegal" in Sweden, I believe. Doesn't help much, especially since many teachers/headmasters have absolutely no training in dealing with bullying anyway.

Or if the bullying is physical and/or aggressive in nature. Far from all bullying is, in fact, in my admittedly limited experience, it's actually in minority to the non-physical bullshit.

Maybe the prefix "cyber" makes everything worse.

Violence is the last refuge of the incompetent.

It's also the oldest tried-and-true general-purpose problem-solving technique in the world.

Problem?  Hit it until it's not a problem anymore.

Funny thing is? It works. I used to have a guy who picked on me most of my school life. One year I had enough and knocked him on his ass. He stopped immediately after.

I can tell you, as a really huge guy myself. Physical intimidation works very well for some things.

Edit: And yes it can solve things.

Violence sadly only works for some. I am mildly physically disabled, at least enough that I am incapable of delivering a good hit.. I also have an anxiety disorder which, when umedicated made me an easy mark to get a reaction from. Trust me, it is not a suitable tool for many cases.

Then count yourself lucky, because some of us literally didn't have that option.
