My current one is called 'Mirewall'. It's in a savage warm temperate swamp, and is on top of some fire clay. I'm planning to refurbish the fort entirely in fire clay bricks.

Before that, my Combine theme fort was simply called 'The Last Citadel'. Because in my mind, the '99% of everyone ever born dying by end of world gen' bug is quite fun. I like to think my dwarfs think that they're the last of their kind, and thus the strict semi-fascist regime and paranoid defences are justified.

Wavehandle (think of it like a broken mug; thanks to it's sewer system and drinking halls, expect many a broken mug from overuse. They wave their broken handles) and Dragonkey (though a previously failed fort, it still sounded cool).

Non-random, obviously, Bloodfist the Sky-Fortress of God

And in dwarven, they also sound pretty cool

My current fortress is fun to say in Dwarven. It's called Granitegears, which is nothing special, but in Dwarven it's Lolokolon.

I'm pretty sure he'd move diagonally if he could.
You would think that, but the guy thought encasing himself in fire was a good idea.

I quite liked Steelbreath (Delergasol, if I remember it correctly). An amusing one I had once was Squirtdykes. A human civ I did some quests for as an adventurer was named The Confederations of Pants.

Many revisions ago, someone posted a "Dwarf Heaven" seed.  It had a ton of good stuff in a single embark location: Magma pipe, bottomless chasm, sand, trees, metals, flux stone, a river, no aquifer, and cotton candy.  I determined to try this legendary embark.  The fortress was assigned the name "Spreadbuttocks" -- founded by "The Embrace of Prison."  I should have taken it as an omen.

The wagon was placed right next to the chasm... within sight range of a Giant Cave Spider.  One brave, brave dwarf managed to wrestle off a single leg; everyone died horribly except the cave spider.  Elapsed time?  15 seconds, give or take.  My best fortress name is also my shortest fortress ever.

My current fort is called Skinbasements.

Depending on how you interpret that, it could be horrifying or... Not so horrifying. ;)

My current fortress is called Grandcrypt.
The skeletal rhinos and elephants are trying their best to make it live up to that name. Or rather, not live. Also, in most of my forts there is a statue in the middle of the dining hall depicting the founding of the fortress. In Grandcrypt it shows one of my starting seven being killed by a skeletal warthog.

As dwarves slowly lose their stats over time it's natural for them to get fatter as they age because there's no activities to train healing rate.
so dwarves that die of old age in DF dont get shriveled and weak, but huge round masses of meat and fat that explode spectacularly upon their final birthday?

I think it's pretty horrifying no matter what way you think of it.

My current fort is named "Worldbolt", which goes to show my dwarves must think the fortress holds the world itself together.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

I started a new fortress a few days ago - Gongithilral, "Squidtreaties".

It's landlocked. 8|a
