I'd actually say PCB is better for beginners too.

You might also consider the demo for Ten Desires, it's very straightforward in its mechanics.

Youmu is a bit of a hater.

I'd also say that StB and DS are great games to start off with also, because the difficulty curve is okay through the levels, and it's a very quick game to just mess around with in 5 minute intervals.

At the very least, my friends who aren't normally shmuppy people enjoy playing StB.

Controls:
Shift = Focus
Z = Shoot
X= Bomb

Z or Y. Shift is for focus, and X bombs. C is fro Trance Mode.

Speaking of IN, have any of you guys managed to do Mokou's Honest Man's Death via the "hardcore" method?

I can only do about 3 rotations max before I mess up.  :'(
