I already recanted that idea and am now in favor of just generalizing how close one is to the cavern's mouth by a variable wind in that general direction, no flow required.

Sorry about any confusion there.

I'm sorry.

So sorry.

So very sorry.

I like fortresses because they are still underground.

Why would you want fluid air? Should'nt you first have fluid sand/water/blood/booze first?

Where did all this talk of fluid air come from?
It's unnecessary, especially to this suggestion.

I think that underground, on W press, pathing to the nearest outside square and reporting it as a magnitude and direction would be a great idea. Just because I'm an idiot when it comes to remembering how I came in doesn't mean I should be punished mercilessly.
As it is, adventurers crawl into caverns to die, kind of like seagulls and the sea.

code similar as to the depod could be used, and then just make it note in which cardinal direction the closest exit is

not very hard to calculate, and you can make it so it only calculates it once every time you press the key to check it

even if it gives the closest exit, how would you guys have it act?

GPS like, and the most realistic scenario? (1)

or some "rudimental il give you the general direction of the closest exit in birdvieuw" (2)

problem with 2 is that it makes you go into the dead end, because thats the most logical next route to take according to the wind
