Dwarf fortress

1st hematite
It is a sad day for foundboulder. Our first expedition leader has fallen in battle. Great is their grief and sorrow.

they have send for a request for a replacement but how long will it take for him/her to get here?
With the loss of their leader, the dwarfs will construct a better defensible fortress.

The second layer will be digged out to make a great farm. 2 layers beneath the farm. The goods will be stored. 1 layer beneath the storage, the dining hall and the workshop’s will be placed.

A new entrance will be made and a new mining shaft to make sure creatures don’t just walk in and kill them all. Still with pain in their hearts they begin working, praying that help will soon come.
 
Just what they feared, a creature from the dark walked the stairs right in there base.

Lucky this creature is just as scared of the dwarfs as the dwarfs are. But future constructions must be prevented from going straight into a cave.

It’s so dam hot in this place, which sick basted send me here to become overseer of this place.
I hurry to get inside of the fortress, well what you can call a entrance it’s just a hole in the floor.
Well I shouldn’t complain its colder in here then outside seriously its frigging hot.

Melkor’s log 1st malachite

I have looked around the fort and I don’t like what I see. We are low on food, booze and we have no military, well we do have 2 guys claiming to be soldiers deon and conflict. But they have none too few combat experience. But military has to wait first food. I have told our farmer (ask and you will be dorfed) to gatherer some plants but we need a farm. We don’t have a booze maker yet so I am assigning the farmer to make some booze as well .

this is the first update.

Also, please do not downsize the images, it's hard to see what happens there.

@Melkor: It looks like you use Phoebus version! While the raws are for Ironhand!
If you want to have proper graphics for tiles for Phoebus version, just replace the /data/save/region*/raw/objects/ folder with the one from Phoebus, and replace it back when you upload the save .

Also may I suggest a moat? We have a river => plenty of water.

Oh man, if Melkor doesn't get around to this in his turn, I'll give it a try in mine. I've never actually built one before, so it will !!FUN!! an adventure
