For me, whenever I watch How to train your dragon, I am reminded powerfully of dwarf fortress.

Dragons fly around everywhere, then kill everything. The locals reaction is to get drunk and beat the crap out of everything.

And the magma.

There is magma, so it is eligible.

I suppose someone has to say it...The Fellowship of the Ring.  I mean, Moria's almost the original Boatmurdered.

Do you always look at it in ASCII?

You get used to it, I don't even see the ASCII.  All I see is blacksmith, miner, goblin.

I suppose someone has to say it...The Fellowship of the Ring.  I mean, Moria's almost the original Boatmurdered.
But Moria had one demon and a small group of goblins.

Boatmurdered had a sea of magma, a goblin seige, a swarm of demons, and a insane child even the demons avoided because even they don't want to go near that.

Boatmurdered>Moria

It was a pretty badass demon though. Not like the sissies in DF.

Not a movie, but Stargate Universe had a very DF-like moment tonight - one of the guys opened the door, and a huge burst of flames came rushing out. He closed it hurriedly and said "Guess I'm not going in there then." Welcome to Dwarf Fortress.

Socks inspire the same sort of emotions in dwarfs that Helen of Troy inspired in the Achaean Greeks. Although it is said that Helen's face launched a thousand ships, socks have surely launched a million ultimately-fatal Store Owned Item tasks.

Dwarf Fortress's continuation:

Das Boot.  Trapped underwater, growing beards, going insane.  They almost all succumb to melancholy at the end but then their legendary mechanic saves the day.  Oh, and at the end

so it's exactly like DF.

Yep, Das Boot. Don't forget the vast, vomiting drunkeness in the opening scene. Practically screams, "Herr Kriegsmarine has organized a party in the occupied ballroom." Oh, and the drunk submariner shooting at things, definitely a misery induced fistfight moment. I give the movie a two and a half dolomite mug rating for some solidly dwarven moments, characters, and themes.

How the circus do you have two and a half dolomite mugs? Iron I could understand, but dolomite? You can't make dolomite in less than groups of three!

He made three, but used one to bust open a goblin head. The mug then broke in two, allowing him to give a movie 2.5 out of 5 mugs.
