PabloQuest is a roguelike game where you will find some fun. You will have to go trough a world drawn by letters and symbols slaying monsters and looting treasures, you can hire some warriors and then raid some towns or if you are brave enough you can wait until the dusk to enter in one of the cursed dungeons! You decide the way your character dies!

Looks good so far, and its generally fun to mess around with. I liked the concept of dungeons only being open at night, and I can't find any game-crashing bugs. The simplicity of the game made it easy to jump right into during my coffee break.
That being said, it seems far from finished - there are some gameplay issues, such as the magic system (mp costs not listed, and even after experimenting on some townsfolk, I'm still not really sure how to use the spells) and difficulty balancing (unless you mean for overworld encounters to be so difficult that the best option is to run and hope the archers don't plug you full of arrows).

really?

Actually upon thinking of it. The "Dungeons are open only at night" aspect makes sense if Pablo's Quest is more tongue in cheek and dungeons are treated more like an attraction. Meaning that the ultimate goal for Pablo is to become very stylised so that it pulls people into that world.

Yeah, and the game already has enough wackiness that it comes off okay. I mean, all the enemy monsters are nonhumanoid animals such as chickens and giraffes. Being killed by an "ant archer" is certainly surreal enough to set that kind of mood.

I thought it was pretty cool except I died very quickly, but that just means I suck. The engine is very solid.

This is not an amateur roguelike, and if it is then it is accidently very good. Ok, so it is some what unbalanced so far, but that is a long hard trick to pull off. The foundation is there, and is awesome. Good programming to make a good engine, and a unique flavour. It feels very tongue in cheek, and I like it.

Keep going, you might end up on the list of major roguelikes, as the 'little brother' one that isn't as serious, but just as much fun, if not more so, and it would make me very happy to see that come to pass.

Ooh, just replayed it and I've got to say that it's pretty fun. A way to check spell properties would be nice. Also, after eating an enemy's body part, I've noticed that my health went to 11/10. Dunno if that's a bug or not so I thought I would mention it.

The money being needed to camp part is interesting as well. As is the having a number to display how many bonuses an item gives you. There's some good stuff here.

Are spell damage values static or do they progress in any way as the player levels up?

Did you play version 1.1 or 1.0? the 1.1 has the same tiles as df :)

Regarding the 11/10 hp ... i did it in purpose, so the 'body parts' are more useful.
There is a little description of the spells if you press the corresponding letter in the 'i' inventory menu but yes, all the spells durations or effects depends on the player, mostly level and max values of bonuses. I dont want to show the formula to keep the "medieval" feeling.

Thanks again for post man!

Wait a second, on the wiki there's pictures of talking to people. How do you do that?
