I'm quite sure the rest of the toad would have had some trouble surviving with it's top half gone. So only using the top half seems like a lame excuse, from the frog's perspective.
On the other hand, it may have been one of those zombie cane toads..

My apologies, good fellow.  How could I have made such a dreadful spelling mistake as to have mistaken the obviously correct "HALK" with the completely incorrect "half".  Please forgive my oversight.  I pray that you do not look ill on me for this in the future.
