Well shit... I kinda want to pick this back up as well. Now then, to join Tymas or Poltifar's empire?

Tymas, what kind of fighting is going on currently? Multi-crewed ships? Ground wars?

Poltifar, have you gotten into space yet?

I'd like to get into this. I'm not sure whether to join Tymas or Poltifar either though. I'd like to be involved in a war, depends on stuffs though.

Well whoever wants to get involved with war probably doesnt want to join mine unless by "war" you mean "get curb stomped". Small empires in SoH cant really do much in war...

Also, we managed space flight yesterday. Today we're just slowly expanding. We're not really a very powergamy empire, so I dont expect huge leaps in TL and capabilities any time soon.

Sending PMs to those who feel like joining, though at this rate I think I'll just switch to Request instead of Open.

I just reinstalled the game and created my new empire, so far so good, the game is not exactly fluid but the lag i remembered is gone, and there seem to be a couple new features. One thing that hasnt changed though : i managed to kill targoss by accident, again, and made my flag out of his skin ^^

Right now i'm building my first city, it's kind of annoying at night since i still don't have electricity, but at least i know what i doing this time  :)

Well I've now set the empire policy to Request, since we need to declare a capital to start research and I dont want just anyone to start joining the empire.

The war is primarily ground and commando tactics, with a bit of fleet combat. There's more combat between just a couple ships.

Anyone interested in joining Tymas should just PM me here.

The lag is still present, but it's not too bad honestly. Except for a few specific systems...

Yeah, the lag has notably improved for me versus the last time I played. A couple nasty spikes here and there, but overall leaps and bounds smoother.

If it helps any, my graphics card (Nvidia GTS 250) only supports up to openGL 3.0 and hazeron runs fine.

So the 3.3 opengl requirement appears to be incorrect.

According to Wikipedia, the GTS 250 supports OpenGL 3.3. (And it has said that as far back as when I went through their card comparisons data to make
these lists, and put it in the list of cards that should work because they were listed as having OpenGL 3.3 support)

http://www.nvidia.com/object/product_geforce_gts_250_us.html

I got my information from Nvidia, presumably they are more accurate.

Yes, but there is commonly no need. There has been only a single real fleet battle, otherwise just 1-3 ships per side, usually with all ships player controlled.

No, that page is just out of date.

Ever think to direct one ship to attack whatever you plan to attack, but order a whole bunch of other ships to follow that ship? They should all attack any threats they see, so instead of directing dozens of ships, you just direct one, but with still that many following.

This reminds me of a question I long wanted to ask: If I build many combat ships, station them in orbit of my planet with a full crew but no officer, would they shoot enemies that approach? If yes, would that be a valable way of defending my planets? Just spamming orbital defense ships?

EDIT: Might as well ask, what is the best way to defend planets? Laser bases alone seem underwhelming...

Starborn dominion's TL32 laser towers apparently did a lot of damage to the PTMC when they were trying to invade. Had anybody still been active, we may even have been able to stop them.

Without officers or an online player aboard the ship, it won't attack anyone.
