Okay, so it was Goodman that did the disgustingly good pure instrumental remix/arrangement of Prima's Sing Sing Sing. Probably one of the most iconic pieces of old swing instrumental work I'm aware of, and also stupidly, stupidly good music. Now I know.

So... I like this song, it's a simple and clean melody, she's got a nice voice...

...but listening to the lyrics, it seems awfully toxic. Like, the qualities she's looking for in a partner are all selfish (it's not even about understanding her and loving her despite her faults, it's about doing things for her convenience), and her main contribution is basically "I won't gripe if they're as bad as I am". And seeing as I happen to know a rather abrasive person who's exasperatedly looking for someone who's "man enough to handle her", I guess that those points stand out a bit more strongly to me.


Oh, yeah... The song has an official music video on YouTube, but it's a cheap shot tearjerker so fuck that noise. It's not even noon, I didn't wanna cry yet!

Sounds good, conflicted on the lyrics? I feel that every time I listen to Killieburn Brae. Like, it ends with the line, "Which proves that the women are worse than the men, when they go down to hell they are thrown out again."

But it's basically a song about some old granny being took to hell and then promptly going Son Wukong on its collective ass, which is kinda' awesome.
