Halo.

Now, the original is pretty nice, a warm song with a good singer and all that, but nothing special. This version tho, I just can't stop listening to, it's so bright and cheerful to the point that it should be saccharine and annoying. But it's not, instead, the happy is contagious and I can't help but smile the whole time I'm listening to it :D

Many people probably recognize I Monster's "The Blue Wrath", be it from Shaun of the Dead, Gentlespy, Eddsworld or whatever, but goddamn have they made many more amazing songs.

Maybe I'm just biased because Awesomenauts made me enjoy electronica so much and I'm working on something in a similar vein so it's pretty inspiring...
Anyhow, I've only listened to the Neveroddoreven (Never-odd-or-even) and Rare albums but hot damn are they amazing (maybe with some "meh" outliers).

Nine Inch Nails - Hurt (Gregorian cover) | (original)

I really like both. The Johnny Cash cover is very good as well.

A rendition of the oldest recorded melody to date, apparently.

I'm not gonna wax poetic about how this makes me ponder the nature of humanity or something, but I found it sort of relaxing, and I think it's aged pretty well, all things considered.

I wouldn't actually mind a gentle synth version of this, though. Because I like synths.

... This may seem incredibly silly.
But I want to see if I could actually (arrange and) play this for violins.
I seem to be in a mood that leads to finding really hard (or even impossible) to play things and wanting to play them.
This thread needs more piano.
Happy to oblige, Ipsil.

Nine Inch Nails - Hurt (Gregorian cover)

This band's great. I just checked out their covers of Heaven is a Place on Earth, Boulevard of Broken Dreams, Losing My Religion

BTW Do you know if they've covered any Devo songs?

EDIT:
Their rendition of O Fortuna is also one of the best I've ever heard

I don't actually have most of their music, unfortunately, so I have no idea. :/

I do know that songs have to meet a very specific set of musical criteria for them to be able to cover them, so you might be able to check that out.
