Now, the original is pretty nice, a warm song with a good singer and all that, but nothing special. This version tho, I just can't stop listening to, it's so bright and cheerful to the point that it should be saccharine and annoying. But it's not, instead, the happy is contagious and I can't help but smile the whole time I'm listening to it

Many people probably recognize I Monster's "The Blue Wrath", be it from Shaun of the Dead, Gentlespy, Eddsworld or whatever, but goddamn have they made many more amazing songs.

Maybe I'm just biased because Awesomenauts made me enjoy electronica so much and I'm working on something in a similar vein so it's pretty inspiring...
Anyhow, I've only listened to the Neveroddoreven (Never-odd-or-even) and Rare albums but hot damn are they amazing (maybe with some "meh" outliers).

I don't actually have most of their music, unfortunately, so I have no idea. :/

I do know that songs have to meet a very specific set of musical criteria for them to be able to cover them, so you might be able to check that out.
