Avantasia - The Scarecrow

And better,

The Tower

The Scarecrow is one of my favorite songs!

The Tower is decent.  Tobias Sammet has definitely matured his songwriting.

Edit:

Holy crap... Klaus Mein with Avantasia?... and his voice sounds just as amazing as it did in the 80's

Recently came across Jordan Reyne, who makes dark/neo folk music.  Some of her stuff's fairly traditional sounding, shanties and the like, while some of it is darker, aggressive, and more experimental.  In either case I think she's awfully good.

Johnny & the Sea - an example of the former.
The Narcissus - falls more under the latter.

BG-Harvest of Sorrow

If someone knows another song like this, I'd be very interested in hearing it.

Also, I quite like her voice. It sounds like it would suit a faster paced song than the one I've currently heard (the Narcissus.)

How about some super-cool Filk music for the day? Folk style singer with more interesting themes.

Polaris/recall by Leslie Fish (although the words are Lovecraft's from what I hear).
