I suggest this thing as an opening of sorts, because it is greatly atmospheric and fits to pretty much any great and empty expanse.

Farewell Spaceman from Blockhead is also awesome, both because it's not overly intrusive and because it's spacey themend but in an awesome-yet-not-cheesy way.

Also D9's Prawnkus piece is quite awesome and mellow.

And ofcourse can't forget the ever amazing Bebop soundtrack with Space Lion.

Most of this stuff is somewhat slow and relaxing, so might want to mix in the aforementioned God is an astronaut or Ayreon (both awesome).
